Urban Meyer owned up to his poor play calling against Bama (the pump pass in particular). Why can't Miles?

Who knows, but it ain't rocket science. Lee seems to be a bit quicker on the uptake and on the passing.

I think you can't really know that at all and talk about sounding naive . . .

Try to understand, recognizing the limitations of our quarterback is not taking Crowton off the hook for his limitations nor anointing Lee as the next Peyton Manning.

    Because

    1) He doesn't think very fast on his feet.

    2) He did...but when he does it, he constantly tries to dress it up. Like I said, he tries to put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. I also think in trying not to completely throw Crowton under the bus, he epically fails. I think he's terrible with this type of situation. I know he can't but I wish he could tell the media to ask him tomorrow.

And no, he never does take full responsibility. I don't like it either. But I don't think Miles called much of the plays last night, except the last one. Therefore, it's easy to see why he can't "own up to his poor play calling", since it isn't his poor play calling for the most part.

I have no idea what they had I wasnt at practice. I do know that Miles has proved he wont own up to poor play calling and game management including clock management so I cant be sure what he teachs /installs at practice. I shouldnt have to concern myself with it..... but as fans we seem to be left wondering how deep his coaching skills go. Looking at it on the surface, they dont appear too deep.

That much is true, but I would be lying if I said that a good portion of his decisions weren't questionable (forward lateral, grounding, delay of game, throwing the ball straight up in the air, the INT, the near INT in the endzone, etc).

I've said it before, but this game reminds me of the Auburn '08 game. Lee plays bad overall, but a good couple of passes in the end and a win has us on his side again.

I think next week, the fans will be up in arms again. I hope not, though.

I agree that, on the surface, they don't. But I'm certain he knows more about this game than I ever will. I think he's very secretive, and I think he's a pain in the arse like that. But then again, I think he tries VERY hard to keep things in house, and does so to protect not only his own arse, but his coordinators, and his players. I think he's let a couple of things slip, especially last night, out of frustration that he doesn't like to show.

Recognize that all of these thoughts are just my opinion...and take them as nothing more.

Oh i know that. I have no illusions that Lee or Crowton is going to save us from here on out.
I remain hopeful that SOME change is better than NO change.

I just think the problem is MUCH deeper than JJ.

I agree with most of this. Again, just being me, I can't say I think the fans will be up in arms again next week...but it wouldn't shock me. But I do think Lee has much more awareness and common sense/maturity (football maturity and sense). I do think he would've known what to do there. I know JJ didn't. I don't think Lee is or ever will be great. I think he gives LSU the better chance to win right now.

It is. It's Crowton, and Miles too. I think mostly Crowton, since it seems the other aspects of the team are OK. Miles said we were gonna run the ball, and we are running the ball well. The defense is looking near great, and the special teams are there with them. Miles is as responsible for these things as he is for the offense. That said, he's responsible for the offense too, and needs to fix it.
