There was an interesting conversation yesterday on "After Further Review" (ESPN Radio BR) between Matt and Randy Rosetta of the Advocate. Randy talked about the relationships that many of the players have with Les Miles. While many of us see a bumbling food, they see a guy who is pretty much a father-figure. I have alway said that he is like George W. Bush... I'd love to have a beer with the guy, but not sure I want him to be my leader. Well, these kids really seem to look up to him. One situation that Randy sited was when kids from out of town get homesick, Les invites them over to his house, they hang out with the family, and he makes the feel comfortable at LSU. Randy said that because of those types of relationships, the players are taking it very personally when people are attacking Miles. I think that feeling is reciprocated by Miles, which is why he seem so super-pissed about the boos for Jefferson. Could have typed more but I have to go to work.
I agree. It's a matter of pride, and what better way to shut up the critics than to play a great game. :geauxtige
Like a small ball of snow, rolling downhill the normal grumblings of negativity has grown into a giant boulder like object barreling out of control. It has been going on all year…but not like the past week. For the players to hold their own “players only meeting” and to become very vocal against the criticism of Les Miles, tells me that they are ready to put a end to all the talk.
