Les is no more soft than Pete Carroll. Did you see Pete on 60 minutes the other day, trying to discipline one of his players for getting in a fight? It's almost laughable. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-wIAL0Dfsw& Yes, Les and Pete are more of the "player's coach" type. Les and Pete are the kind of coaches that kids want to come play for. Why else to you think Les and Pete are beating all the other coaches when it comes to recruiting?
I strongly suspect they have been so successful in recruiting for a lot of reasons other than their approach to discipline.
So you don't think Pete and Les have an edge in recruiting over other national-championship winning coaches?
I'm calling BS on this rumor. It's not even worth discussing. ...sounds to me like a sneaky way of Miles bashing by a known doom and gloomer. :dis:
For those who haven't watched that video, you need to. I hate USC, but gained a respect for Carroll. People can flame Miles for being "soft" or whatever, but other than Perillioux what kind of off the field instances have we had recently. There are no Larry Fosters stealing purses, Cecil Collins beaking into apartments, or other junk like that. He recruits quality young men who happen to be good athletes. If I were an AD I would rather a Miles or Carroll who would go 8-4 or 9-3 each year than a Tuberville or Myers who win championships. The great thing about Les is we get both.
Lots of impact players talked about transferring under Saban too - and it didn't take a poor season for it to happen. But they didn't. Impact players just don't transfer - too much to lose by risking their career. I expect a lot of players are unhappy and frustrated right now. They came to LSU to win, and we clearly didn't accomplish that this year. That will change.
I don't blame WC for not wanting to share names - I would do the same thing. Just take it for what it's worth...
