Reading Dandy Don's column this morning, I noticed that he says: Link: http://www.dandydon.com/ Does anyone here know which players he is talking about? If so, where would they transfer and, perhaps most importantly - WHY? I would imagine playing time would have something to do with that. Would welcome any thoughts on this topic! Thanks. :geaux:
Every single year a few players quit football, a few players get dismissed, a few flunk out . . . and a few players transfer. Some are facing a logjam at their positions and transfer for more playing time. Some are unhappy with a coach, the merciless fans, or the school. Some just get homesick for Mama. Scholarships are issued on a year-by-year basis. Sometimes a head coach will encourage a player who has little hope of playing here to transfer down to I-AA or Division II where he can be a starter. Better for him and better for LSU. Les has to meet his 85-scholarship limit every August. When he's bringing in an impressive haul of blue-chip recruits that he has to find room for . . . it's just not a good year to be a marginal talent, have failing grades, or to be in the doghouse for any reason.
That makes sense, Red - thanks. logjam = QB? Looks like we'll have an abundance - though not with experience. Transfers probably do occur more often than the average fan knows...it's just that the players who transfer are not "household names" so we don't really pay much attention.:geaux:
francois. there are grumblings about shomari clemmons. although i would think he'd have a shot to play soon. nothing out of the ordinary like red said, it'll actually allow us to sign more kids in this recruiting class. it happens every year.
Hatch Lee Jefferson Garrett Shepard 5= logjam - proven or not. And one year will make a huge difference.
