Has anyone heard or read anything about the players' reactions to the cancellation of last night's game? They came here to play football and have invested a lot of time and effort preparing for the game. It's hard for me to imagine how disappointed they must be and I'm wondering if they had any input at all into the decision to cancel.
I doubt they had any input and I see no reason why they should. I'm sure they're very disappointed, but it is what it is.
The players would have had no input but I'm sure if they had been asked every player would have said play
Joe Alleva actually made a pretty good response. He said fans will be compensated for the cancelled game. He listed and explained some good reasons that they decided to cancel the game. It was his and Les's decision. http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2015/09/lsu_ad_joe_alleva_refund_plan.html "Our players were ready to play. At the end of the day it all came down to safety. That darn storm wouldn't go away. Every time there was a lightning flash within eight miles of the city, we had to wait another 30 minutes. It kept happening and happening. The way it turned out we probably wouldn't have started the game until 1 o'clock in the morning. We talked to weather people, we were watching the radar, there was no time it was going to stop, for a while. "The real tipping point was when we met with doctors and trainers. They said this is not a good safe environment for our athletes. Not just from the lightning and the weather but the physical standpoint of going out there. At 1 o'clock in the morning, not eaten anything, being tired and not being in the right state of mind, that's when injuries happen. "We had conversations about every possibility. We discussed playing in the indoor facility. We discussed playing Sunday. At the end of the day, none of them were feasible. "No question about it. I hate losing the game against McNeese State and a possible win, but at the end of the day we're trying to win the conference championship. It would put our team at a competitive disadvantage going to Mississippi State to play them. One less day of preparation. If we did play the game and have injuries, with the time and condition of the field, no question if we played on Sunday, which was not possible, it would have put us at a competitive disadvantage going into Mississippi State."
If I remember correctly after Katrina there wasn't an actual refund, but it was deducted from the next seasons ticket price. If I had to guess I'd say they do the same here.
i think they are crediting the season ticket holders. they get paid twice if they sold their ticket to someone.
