I just called Tyger Gifts in Metairie to see if I can get an LSU jersey with a specific number on it (and perhaps that players' name on it.) The girl said, "no," as it was agains NCAA rules. WTF... all I can buy is a jersey with a number of some players that someone else designates as the only numbers that anyone can sell?

Tell me she's wrong, and I can get the number on a jersey that I want.
    Thanks,
    Bob

I believe it is true. A guy at work tried to buy #8 since his wife likes Holliday. I believe he said the only numbers that could be bought were #1, #5, #9, and #15. I believe Nike is only printing those numbers. Just going by what I was told by someone else.

Look at lsushop.net under jersey's and those are the only numbers available for Nike team jerseys.

I'm not so sure about that. My cousin had on a #7 jersey yesterday.

I have the #88 on my LSU Jesery bought at the Tiger Gift Shop in Tiger Stadum a few years ago. (During the time Josh Booty was playing). Haven't tried to get another lately. LSU!

    she is wrong... kinda...

you can find places that have personalized jerseys. I think Nike has them on their site, possibly?

But while you can get any #, you can't get a name of a player who has ever had that number.

So no #2 Russell jerseys etc...

My advice to you would be to get the # you want, find press-letters that sort of match the jersey font we have, and press them on. It looks pretty good when finished.

I believe it is only current player/number combinations that are prohibitted.
I've seen them on other school websites, and you can get any number/name, as long as it's not a current player.

Well you actually can get his jersey from Nike with his name on it since he is no longer playing in NCAA. I think its there legends collection or something like that but they have B.Sanders,D.Sanders,V.Young,Jim Kelly, a whole bunch of players.

i've heard that some locally owned sports shops sell blank jerseys and can put numbers and names on them. just like they do for all the local non-school affiliated sports association athletic teams. i have not confirmed this, but it might be worth checking into.
