I'm not sure what you're basing your "he doesn't have the same drive and motivation" on. Going by the time and energy he and his staff are putting into recruiting I know for a fact it's not in that department. He's openly said he thoroughly enjoys the recruiting process and the time he puts into has confirmed that. He's a tireless recruiting addict.

Winning is a formula and he's doing the things necessary for winning. The players and staff are working hard, we're recruiting much better and the signs of development began to show last season in some of the freshmen he recruited. It's not an overnight quick fix. Saban has said over and over that we're going to have to recruit ourselve out from under the problems that currently exist. What exactly did he mean by that? I'm not sure but I would venture to say much of that is talent and depth. And with that comes the actual recruitment and then the development. That takes time and it seems most have bought into that. Shocking? Oh yeah. But true.

Will Alabama return to being a national power again? I'd love for them to but who knows? It's a tough road in the SEC, and not just for Alabama. But I believe we're finally doing the things necessary to become a winner.

Have to agree with all of this. Like him or not, Saban is, and will continue to make bama better, joining Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and LSU as annual powerhouses. If Tenn can regain their late 90's form, Ark can regain their SWC form and Ole Ms regain their 50's form, there won't be many cupcakes left.

If the bama fans can survive whatever record they post for the next two years without a meltdown, they should have a very good team and a coach who does know how to win. At this level, teaching your athletes to believe they can win is probably half the battle.

Nick will get back to his winning ways, but there are just too many good coaches in the SEC for him to become dominant. This isn't Gene Stallings' SEC where the name Alabama resonated within a recruit's home.

They should take back the Iron Bowl once JPW finishes his tenure... but on a regular basis I can't see UA finishing any better than 10-2. UA isn't outrecruiting the likes of LSU and Florida any time soon.

LSU hasn't out recruited Georgia but has won more MNC's than the dawgs. Red55 posted this statistic over on tidefans while debating with a Gawga fan. (So Red I hope your figures were right. :yelwink2:) I think once you get within the top ten in recruiting you have a chance and we seem to be certainly heading to a point where our recruiting will annually be in the top ten. Finished number one in 2008 and our 09 class seems it is heading to be a top ten class as well.

I don't think any team will "dominate" the SEC like in years past. And I don't think too many Bama fans truly believe we will, or at least I don't. But I think it is a littel premature to imply that Alabama doesn't have a chance to be anything other than competitive.

ALABAMA SURELY IS AWARE OF THIS.

NICK'S A GOOD MAN AND COACHING IS ALOT LIKE A SARGENT, TEACHER, FATHER FIGURE(IN SOME CASES) IN THE A.R.M.Y. I KNOW TUBBERVILLE, PHULMER, NUTT(WHO WAS FIRED), SCHULA(WHO ALSO WAS FIRED) HAVE BEEN UNDER BIGTIME PRESSURE TO WIN IN THE S.E.C.

ALL OF THIS IS WHY I WOULD HAVE BEEN INCLINED TO SEE, BEFORE IT WAS TOO LATE, IF SALVAGING RYAN PERRILLOUX WAS A POSSIBILITY. I KNOW MANY FOLKS FROM MANY SCHOOLS INCLUDING OHIO STATE WHO WOULD HAVE LICKED THEIR EVER LOVIN CHOPS TO HAVE A PLAYER LIKE RYAN. I MUST BE CANDID HOWEVER AND SAY "I WOULD HAVE DISMISSED RYAN PERRILLOUX FROM L.S.U." I ALSO WISH TO RETURN TO THE ORIGINAL TOPIC AND SAY "NICK SABAN HAS A TEMPER AND WILL GO OFF ON YOU IF HE FEELS YOU ARE NOT FOCUSED AND PERFORMING UP TO YOUR CAPABILITY."

THE RIGHT AND WRONG OF THIS DEPENDS ON WHO YOU ASK.:eek:ldskule:

I'll do what I DAMN WELL please!

I quoted P. Burress. Perhaps if you took the time to read the statements or excerpts from his recently released book which is the topic of discussion you would know what the hell I'm writing about.

I brought RP into the discussion. You got a problem with it? You must either be a board opp or think your big stuff. You're talkin to BIG STUFF..

I hope it bothers you that I brought Perrilloux up because we are facing a potential disaster this season and the over whelming majority of you goons don't even realize it! tOSU is lovin it. In case you are to inbred to know it they (tO.S.U.) hate LSU after that game 01/07/08!:eek:ldskule:
