I didn't see the take on the new rankings, but if we finish #7, I'd be thrilled. We lost about half our starters, seven to the NFL, and our top prospect to start at QB. I think they were generous to us. OSU has 20 of 22 starters back, that's pretty strong. I have us picked 9-3 regular season, and finish in the second 10. We'd be lower, its just recognition for winning the championship last year, and our o-line and d-lines look to be very good. I think the defending champion is many times, over rated in the next preseason poll.
Not as overrated as Jim Tressel and his Buckeyes have been the past two years after getting stomped in the championship games.
Perhaps Forbes should have been more patient before putting Saban on their cover and naming him the most powerful coach in sports.
I disagree. Journalists these days have their favorites they love to shower with praises and then they have those that it doesn't matter what they do they're going to write something negative about. Even if it means contradicting what they've said in the past. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how they play both sides of the fence to fit their preconceived opinions. God forbid they get facts then make an opinion rather than forming an opinion then going back and finding "facts" to fit the opinion and ignoring anything that might not fit their opinion.
Actually I could have TYPED it more but I stopped writing on my computer screen a while back. The white out starting getting expensive. However, I am extremely talented. I can take my multi tasking skills and focus them on one particular task and be hell on a keyboard. You'd be amazed at how many times I can type one word over and over. :thumb:
Yep. Probably is including on the "What the hell did I just do?" list. But, unfortunately no one can turn back time and go back. Fortunately second chances and other good opportunities tend to come back around. His situation at Bama is different than LSU but there is no reason that he cannot be successful and win. I'm not sure he'll be able to replicate exactly his success at LSU but he'll have the opportunity and the resources available to him to try like hell.
When he left Mich. St. for LSU, it was seen as moving up. When he left LSU for Miami, it was seen as moving up. Leaving Miami for Bama, being seen as moving up? (Not So Much) Saban has reached his Pinnacle and he found that it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. If you believe he has the same drive and motivation he had when he arrived at LSU or Miami for that matter (Even with your resources and opportunity) I ain't buying it. He's already Been there Done that. He'll get you competitive again but to believe he has that same fire in his gut he had when he arrived here...... is..... well.....just..... Dillusional!! OOPs, my bad, I forgot what fan base I was talking to.
Rickydsr, I kind of disagree with that. He has the same fire except now he is not so much "Under the Radar" he awoke a sleeping giant at LSU. It was him no one else and for us we are all thanful. Miles has proven without a doubt LSU doesnt need Nick Saban, and by reading his quotes, it appears he may have needed LSU more than LSU needed him. Anyway, its all the past Bama is a great place for him, and he will do well. Saban is a great coach and Bama has never NOT been competitive, the difference is there are MANY great coaches and teams in the SEC. Saban went to Miami, and we have Les Miles. And all of us are thankful regardless of his off the wall coaching style. He fits LSU, he doesnt wear crazy sweaters or lecture us. Fact is Saban was exactly what LSU needed at the time. A control freak recruiting machine. Les Miles is a perfect fit for LSU now, a huge pro lsu, fun loving, Whack job - And he can coach and recruit. Fits us perfectly. so all is well !!!
