PJ has narrowed it down to four schools: LSU, Alabama, Florida and Tulane. Said he favors LSU a little and also mentioned that his sister is a Junior at LSU.

He’s the 6’4 185 lb. safety from John Curtis. Very aggressive and loves to hit- is being referred to as LaRon Landry “Type”.............TYPE, not LaRon ability......yet, anyway.

I thought we had a thread on him and couldn't find it.

Thats great news to hear I always heard it was us against Michigan just like how it was with Jai Eugene but i guess they dropped out. I wonder if we started recruiting Jonathan McKnight yet....Joe's brother

I had always considered Smith to be a long shot for LSU. Maybe that is changing. Good.

I hope Curtis throws some players our way. He'll really be hated if he starts sending kids to Bama. As far as little Mckight is concerned, I say no way we get him. I'm sure his family has taken a ton of verbal abuse in La, and he'll bolt out of here too. P.J. having a sister at LSU is huge though. Having family around is very important, and it helps ease the transition from high school to college.

I don't think PJ Smith has a commitable offer from LSU. Physically, he has all the tools, but his technique needs a lot of work & he didn't do to well at camp.

If LSU wants him, he's ours.

This is something I've always wondered. Why should a high school coach "send" a kid anywhere at all? Isn't it the kid's choice? A high school coach who gets so involved in the process that he starts essentially making the decision for the kids is abusing his power.

Not only an abuse of power but potentially rule breaking if they send kids to their alma mater or any other school with which they have an affiliation. Take Eric Scott, the recently arrested coach for utla (all charges were dropped). He was the coach at Crenshaw HS for years, played at utla, and Crenshaw has long been known as a pipeline for the bruins. Brian Price was one of the Cali superstars in last year's class and the recruiting got a little nasty. Once Price committed to utla, Dorrell hired Scott.

It may have all been for naught. So far, Price has yet to get through the Clearinghouse.

I read some of the JC coaches comment on Joe Mckight and thought he was giving the kid way too much input. From the way he was talking I figured Joe was gonna go to USC.

Oh well, just think, It could have been him beating the Trojans instead of getting beat by LSU in the NC game this year. maybe next year?

    :crystal: LSU!

Is LSU even offering PJ Smith? Like Parso said, everything I heard about him was he did terrible at the camps and is over rated.
