I would check with Crip to see what time he thinks you should get there, and plan on an hour and half drive in. Just depends on where you are staying in NOLA for how long it takes you to get out of town. I would also ask Crip for best directions for parking near their tailgate (parade grounds). You will find we are a pretty hospitable bunch.
Ask around for when/where the band runs down the hill. The actual event probably won't impress you, but the crowd reaction will. Ditto for Pregame. Be in the stadium at least 25 minutes before kickoff.
The band usually comes down the hill and hour and a half before kick-off. Must see...Try to stake out a spot around the bottom when "Pregame" is played.
I'd leave nola around 5 or 6. get to campus around 7ish. should have no problem parking. I don't know about wearing black. make sure you have an under armor shirt on underneath or you'll die. 4pm game in august isn't smart.
Ditto on TGBFTL coming down the hill and a few of my favorites! TGBFTL MIKE VI Jack and Priscilla Andonie Museum Central Grocery is home of the muffuletta Mother's Restaurant :thumb: Pat O'Brien's Acme Oyster House St. Charles Streetcar Audubon Nature Institute New Orleans Ghost Tours
I hope you have a great time while you are at the game. Welcome to the board :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux:
Appreciate all the advice fellas...all of this is helping. I figure I'll get to my seat at least an hour before the game and unfortunately I have no choice but to wear black. As the story goes, for going on 6 years I've worn the SAME old raggedy jersey to every game. Its been at the national title games, been at Michigan...its my lucky jersey. If I didn't wear it my people would disown me!
My best advice to you is to not underestimate Louisiana heat. If you've never been here, it's pretty much unbearable. It will be 100+ degrees and with a lot of walking to do, etc... pack a lot of water and sun-screen. Outside of that, just have a blast. No one will disrespect you unless you go around making a fool of yourself.
