They won't. For the same reason that people have taken Ohio State seriously for the last 4 years with a wretched Big 10 schedule. If they're the last undefeated by season's end they'll get in. If not they'll take a back seat to the SEC, Big-12ish and Pac-12 champs.

    Auburn 2004 Part Duex?

    I might laugh a little.

You think a one loss FSU team would get a nod quicker than a one loss Oregon? Name recognition alone just might do it...

    -------------

CBS's Bruce Feldman tweeted today that Steele has UCF at #15...here's the tweet.

Phil Steele, whose preseason annual is a must-have for any CF media member, ranks UCF #15, ahead of Ark, Neb, Mich & MSU. Wow.

I see your point, but like last year, the LSU players will show up at the end of the season. Last year, Phil had on the Defensive side, Mo 1st. team, Ryan Baker 2nd., TM7 3rd. and on the 4th. team Francois and Montgomery. No Brockers, no Logan, no Mingo, as always we'll keep an eye open for the end of the season. When you have no QB, it shows in the stats, many go by the stats. Same with heights, weights, speed, etc. You can play football or you can't.

if you look on his home page, you'll see he has two Top 25 Polls, he has his poll, and right below that, he has his annual preseason AP Poll projection (and he claims he has "correctly projected at least nine of the [AP Poll] Top 10 teams each year")

in his projected AP Poll, he has South Carolina at #10 and WVU at #11

in his projected AP Poll, he has LSU #1 and Florida State at #9

in his projected AP Poll, he doesn't have UCF ranked

if Boise St. beat Florida, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Miami, and won the ACC Championship Game against the Coastal Division Champs (VT, Miami, Georgia Tech, UNC, UVA, etc), they'd be getting a LOT of respect

if FSU goes undefeated (which is a good possibility), and nobody in the Big 12, Pac 12 or Big Ten goes undefeated, then don't be surprised to see undefeated Florida State against the SEC Champions in the BSCCG

also, if we were in Florida State's shoes, we'd probably be taking about how we're going to have the best and most talented defense in the nation this year...

they return 9 starters from a defense that was the #3 scoring D last year (behind Bama and LSU, not counting Temple) and the #4 total D last year (behind Bama, LSU, and South Carolina)

    check out the talent...

    DE

--they have one of the best DE combos in the nation in local boy Brandon Jenkins and the German Bjoern Werner. last year, the two combined for 15 sacks, 13 QB hurries, and 23.0 TFL... compare that to what Mingo and Sam Montgomery did last year: 16 sacks, 12 QB hurries, and 28.5 TFL. also consider that FSU's second-string DE Cornellius Carradine had 5.5 sacks and 8 TFL last year, which were both double what any returning player on LSU's DL had last year other than Sam and Mingo

--at second-string DE, they have Cornellius Carradine (the #1 overall JUCO recruit for the 2011 class, had offers to Bama, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida State, etc)

--at second-string DE, they have Giorgio Newberry (#3/#10-rated DE/ATH for the 2011 class, had offers to LSU, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Michigan, etc etc)

    DT

--at DT/NT, they have Timmy Jernigan (#2/#2/#4-rated DT recruit for the 2011 class, had offers to LSU, Bama, etc etc)

--at second-string DT, they have Demonte McAllister (#3/#4-rated DT for the 2009 class, had offers to LSU, Southern Cal, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Nebraska, Florida State, etc

--at third-string DT/NT, they have Darious Cummings (#11/#12-ranked DT recruit for the 2010 class, had offers to LSU, Georgia, Florida, Ohio St., Florida State, etc etc)

--at third-string DT, at Moses McCray (#15-rated DT for 2008 class, had offers to LSU, Florida, Ohio St., Florida State, etc etc)

--at fourth-string DT/NT, they have Nile Lawrence-Stample (#13-ranked DT recruit for the 2011 class)

    LB

--at LB, they have Rivals 5-star Christian Jones (#2/#2/#5-rated LB recruit for the 2010 class, had offers to LSU, Bama, etc etc)

--at LB, they have Vince Williams (#10-rated LB recruit for the 2008 class, had offers to LSU, Bama, etc etc)

--at second-string LB, they have Jeff Luc (#1/#1/#2-rated LB recruit for the 2010 class, had offers to Bama, Southern Cal, Georiga, Ohio St, Florida State, etc etc)

--at second-string LB, they have Telvin Smith (#8-rated LB recruit for the 2010 class, had offers to LSU, Georgia, Florida State, etc etc)

    CB

--at CB, they have Rivals 5-star Greg Reid (#2/#4/#7-rated CB for the 2009 class, had offers to Bama, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, etc etc)

--at CB, they have Xavier Rhodes, a projected 1st Round pick

--at second-string CB, they have Keelin Smith (#5-rated S recruit for 2011 class, offers to LSU, Bama, etc, etc)

--at second-string CB, they have Tyler Hunter (#10-rated S recruit for 2011 class, had offers to Florida, South Carolina, Clemson, Florida State, etc)

--at third-string CB, they have Nick Waisome (#2/#8/#8-rated CB for 2011 class, offers to LSU, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, etc etc)

    S

--at S, they have Rivals 5-star Lamarcus Joyner (#1/#1/#2-rated CB for the 2010 class, had offers to Bama, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, etc, etc)

--at second-string S, they have Rivals 5-star Karlos Williams (#1/#2/#2-rated S for 2011 class, offers to Bama, Georgia, Southern Cal, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, etc)

--at third-string S, they have Lamarcus Brutus, (#14-rated S for 2011 class, offers to LSU, Ohio St., Florida State, etc etc)

I'm aware of that. I don't understand what point you are trying to make.

The AP poll means nothing as we all know. Phil has been "mocking" their selections for several years now and has been pretty spot on with what he forecasts will come from the AP voters.

I'm referring to his poll and if you'll look he's got Arkansas one spot below UCF.

I had a friend point something out to me the other day I had forgotten.

Last year in his bowl projections do you know which two teams he had playing in the BCSNC? The same two that ended up playing: Bama and LSU.

I have to hand him his due on that call. I'm sure he was the ONLY one to put these two teams together preseason.

A lot of people don't realize this. Last years ankle injury was the third I believe. If I'm wrong it is more than three. I recall him breaking his ankle in high school and then re-injuring the same ankle in his first spring practice as a frosh.

He's fun to watch running the ball. I hope he can make it through this season whole.

Knile Davis' durability sucks. Yes, I believe you're correct. Pretty sure it was the same ankle in high school.

I don't like seeing anyone getting their season or careers ended, but I do greatly enjoy watching the swine get terminated no matter the sport.

So you're saying you're a big fan of Jessica Dorrell? :D

Hmm. This is the first time in my lifetime the words Femme fatale and Arkansas have crossed my mind simultaneously. Assuredly, the last.
