I had heard a few negative things about Phil (as a person) about five years ago but trying to wipe them from my memory and/or convince myself that they were fabricated or exaggerated.

It seems fitting that only the US Open remains for him. It will make it that much bigger of a story when it happens.

I think Phil definitely has a couple more majors that he can win. The masters would be first, then us open, maybe another british and then the pga. (If i had to rank most to least likely). Who knows, he is playing lights out the last month and a half, he could get the PGA next month. I only caught a little bit of the last round yesterday, but will say i was pumped like it was Lsu vs Bama on a saturday night.

Phil seems like a great guy, which makes it easy to root for him. He has some great charities also.

I agree he is going to win another Masters before it is over with, maybe even 2. He simply loves that course and marks that week on his calender at the beginning of every golf season. It's a left handed golfer's course, to be honest.

LSU99, they used to make fun of his weight, calling him "Hefty", I think it was Jim Rome who coined that name for him.

He is in the best shape of his life, playing his best golf, putting better than I have ever seen him, and he plays "smarter" now, but still plays aggressive when he feels it (e.g., 17th hole on Sunday at Muirfield).

I simply can't wait for Pinehurst next year. I think he wins it. He almost had it in 1999.

Not sure what or the circumstances surrounding it. I have never been a phil fan however have always heard great things about him. I learned only a couple of years ago that he put Conrad Doblers girls through college. Had never met him before, just heard Conrad talking one day about how badly the former players are treated by the NFL and that some of them are in really dire straits. Phil gets on the phone and sets it all up. That was pretty damn cool I thought. Even for Phil, hell for anyone.

Tiger is a well known grade A tightass and would never part with that kind of dough, especially after the sweed took 100 mil from him.

And there is the real difference between Tiger and Phil.

Phil walks off the course, has an emotional moment with his caddy, then has a long long embrace with his wife and kids.

Tiger, not so much. He phucked up the only family he had, as it was all a charade.

I went to Doral last year in Florida and followed Phil's group part of the way. He was walking in the pathway to get to the next tee box and he passes up a kid no more than 8 or 9 years old and he catches himself, and turns toward the kid and asked him if he had gotten a ball yet, and hands him a golf ball.

It's what Phil is all about. He is the ultimate ambassador for the game of golf.

Good to hear so many positive things about Mickelson and I had already started rooting for him.

I won't get into too many specifics since they may have been exaggerated but type in "Phil Mickelson" to any search engine and one of the first things that comes up is "Phil Mickelson affair". Some have suggested that he was a complete jerk to his wife before she was diagnosed with cancer. I'm only basing this on gossip from sites like this so no idea if factual.

Google does not show anything remotely close to an article concerning an affair. Google knows best.

On Bing, it was the third option that came up. When I just typed it into Google, I had to use "Phil Mickelson a" for it to come up. There were a lot of links and some appeared to be rumors of his affairs and others of his wife's. The rumor I heard awhile back was about him. There were also a few links about Mickelson threatening to sue some publications about false affair rumors. One of the links discussed affair rumors about him and Michael Jordan (separate incidents obviously). There is definitely a lot of stuff that came up on google but no idea what is factual versus pure fiction.
