Tiger boggied the 9th, and if Els makes his birdie at the 11th, that will put him just two shots back. This game is not over.
Tiger scored a -1 for the front 9, but only maintained his position vis-a-vis the field. He started out at 3 strokes in the lead and ended the 9th still three strokes in the lead. He has to start pulling away or Els could pass him. Els has been playing great golf.
Not quite yet. Els made a boggie, but Woods is having trouble sinking his for birdies. Tiger is now 4 strokes ahead of the field, but Els can still catch him if he does not make any more mistakes and Tiger continues to miss birdies. He definately wants to make a birdie at #13, but to do that he has to hit the fairway with his driver - something he has not done yet today.
Els has a good shot of making at least a birdie on #13. If he does that will put him in a tie for second place with Austin and three behind Tiger. Tiger has been leaving himself too much green to work with for his birdies. I know there are some holes, like #6, where you just cannot go for the hole, but on those he can go for, he needs to be making the effort.
Els made his birdie, then hit a spectacular shot onto the 14th, and he is three feet from the hole for another birdie. Once again, Woods just misses another birdie shot. He just can't get them to go in. He seems satisfied hitting the ball 40 yards from the hole, but Els is not having any of that. He is going for the hole and making it pay off. Once Els makes this shot he will be just two behind Woods.
Woods just hit a terrible shot on the 13th with his driver. This is a hole he really needs to make a birdie on, but I don't see it happening.
