Well it was supposed to happen tonight but his dad confirmed he committed to Trent Johnson this morning. :geaux:
We already have stringer and unless I am wrong they only have one scholly left and this team is in need of a big body down low to team with white.
I think this is the reasoning. (1) Trent has been looking for big men and in the spring potential pool and 2010-11, there just isn't anything to get super excited about or realistically there to sign with LSU. He's on a few JUCOs that are alright, but don't substantially upgrade the PF/C positions against what we have (presumably, White, Warren, Harris, Green, Ludwig). (2) Guard play is killing us this year, almost more than the inside play. Sure, there are a few teams like Kentucky, Miss S. and Vanderbilt that have legitimate bigs, but most of the SEC plays with 6'8"/6'9" guys as their centers. LSU isn't getting killed in the rebounding on average, but is playing a little bit of folks out of position (Tas' and Warren are playing PF without a true center presence, which will be fixed with Malcolm White on the court). LSU is getting killed because they don't have enough athletic guards to defend, score and run the team the way he'd like. (3) Ross-Miller is a kid that expands yet another recruiting network for Trent's growing recruiting network in the south. Houston and Dallas are markets where LSU has had success in the past and needs to continue to have success. Miller's school God's Academy is an example of how these prep academies are continuing to be important recruiting hotbeds for college programs, and LSU needs to have these connections. (4) KC Ross Miller is a different kind of PG than Stringer. Stringer is more of a shooter open court guy, Miller is more of a penetrate and dish guy. Both can score in different ways, and Miller at a slightly bigger stature, is probably a better defender. You could also if get get in a bind, play both kids and create match up problems for teams: http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/84287432.html?index=14&c=y In the end, Miller is also another top 150 recruit, and further legitimizes LSU's 2010 class.
We can surely use him as LSU needs shooters & assists badly. Looking forward to next year... I am looking forward also to reading about him signing & sending in his letter of intent, wonder what the holdup is?? :geaux:
Spring signing for hoops isn't until April 14th or so. There is still time for minds to be changed. So, it's not done until it's done.
