from the AP: Manning left the Titan's headquarters tonight at 10:05 pm with coach Mike Munchak. If the big smile Munchak had on his face as he and Manning were leaving was any indication, things went well. The two got into Munchak's SUV and drove away. Before getting in the SUV, Manning waved and gave a thumbs' up to the Titan fans that had gathered along the fence and were calling his name. owner Bud Adams told Nashville station WSMV-TV late tonight he thinks Manning was very pleased with what he saw from the Titans. Even Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam called Manning during his visit, Adams told WSMV-TV. The Titans got plenty of help from fans flocking to the street in front of the team complex throughout the afternoon. They broke out in cheers at times. They drew up posters begging Manning to sign with Tennessee. Cars and trucks slowed to watch, honking in response to a sign asking them to let Manning know how much he's wanted. A local radio station set up briefly and blared "Rocky Top" over speakers alongside TV reporters busy broadcasting live during afternoon newscasts, adding to the circus atmosphere. Meanwhile, the Titans were going about their business. Titans COO Reinfeldt left around 6 p.m. EDT talking on a cell phone, followed shortly by dinner being brought in from a nearby Italian restaurant. One sign Titans fans should possibly pay close attention to was a visit by the team doctor Burton Elrod to the facility during Manning's visit. Elrod arrived and spent 90 minutes inside before leaving. Offensive line coach Bruce Matthews, a Hall of Fame lineman like Munchak, also was seen leaving the facility not long after Elrod.
per CBS Sports a couple hours ago: A person close to Manning described the situation this way: "anyone who says they know what he's doing is wrong. No one knows." All of the teams Manning has talked to -- Arizona, Denver, Miami and the Titans -- are in play, the person said. Yes, without question, the Dolphins are in the mix. There is no clear leader, the source explained. The source explained that things are getting so nasty between the competitors that when Manning is either in transit or already at another team's facility some ofthe teams he previously visited will call him to further push why they are the place he should go. In other words, the pursuit of Manning doesn't stop when he leaves a facility. It.continues relentlessly.
ah that's right, I wonder if ESPN is hounding Peyton's agent with money offers for him to do a nationally televised "The Decision"
they could put 4 hats in front of him, have Archie and Eli with him, invite John Elway, Dan Marino, etc. it'd be great ha ha
true enough, he isnt lebronning us yet. but i am impatient to see him sign with denver. mostly because he would replace tebow of course.
If Peyton signs with Denver, I've heard the possibility of trading Tebow although there may not be a team that would trade for him to be their starter (i.e. wouldn't offer much). Any chance that the Broncos keep Tebow and let him learn under Peyton while also playing some TE or FB in special packages?
looks like Miami is out Jeff Darlington of the NFL Network reports based on multiple sources, that Manning personally called the Dolphins yesterday to let them know he will not take his talents to South Beach. the Dolphins have now turned their attention to Matt Flynn. Miami will meet with Flynn after he finishes his visit with Seattle.
Denver has another meeting with Manning today. the Broncos are meeting him at Duke University, which Manning has been using as his headquarters for football training (the Duke football coach, Cutliffe, is an old friend of the Mannings) The private plane of Broncos owner Pat Bowlen left Denver en route to Raleigh-Durham on this morning. Among Broncos officials on board, according to the sources, were John Elway, executive VP for football operations; head coach John Fox; offensive coordinator Mike McCoy; quarterback coach Adam Gase; and general manager Brian Xanders
