I think someone's getting their Paytons and their Peytons mixed up. Tennessee is a long way from Eastern Illinois.
My mom works for a doctor that lives in the same neighborhood, Vaccaro, Vicaro? Something like that, lots of well to do people live there, and apparently Payton's house is on the market.
Why did you think Payton was an LSU fan? Obviously both Les and Sean worked in Dallas for Jerry Jones and have met on numerous occasions, and he may even enjoy being around the program given the close proximity of BR and NOLA, but that still doesn't mean the guy has to bleed purple and gold. He's had New Orleans-born Avery Johnson come speak to the Saints numerous times when he's been a head coach in other NBA cities and even that is a lot different given Payton was raised in Illinois and resides outside of Louisiana.
There has always been a certain low level of confidence that I have tried to aspire to here in Tigerland. So without further ado, I do believe the Purple win with a comfortable margin of at least 14.
Yes it is called Vaquero and it is a very exclusive neighborhood in Southlake (NW Dallas area). Its residents include several PGA golfers, Hank Haney, and the Jonas Brothers. His kids do not attend Southlake though. Many kids from Southlake actually go to Arkansas of all places. Because Arkansas offers in-state tuition for Texas residents if you have a certain GPA. Arkansas actually has a growing presence in North Texas because of that. Wish LSU would do that !!!!!
I was actually on a flight once with one of the asst coaches for N. Texas and it happened to be a week or so before they played LSU a few years back. I asked him "so....what do you tell these guys before they are about to be fed to the monster". He just chuckled and said "you know, these guys know they are out classed in just about every way possible" "There are a few that have a chance to play on Sundays so we tell them this is your chance to shine. When the scouts look at you they aren't going to see what you did against E. Popcorn State, they want to see how you played against the big boys".
