    Re: Peveto to NW

Congrats to Peveto! I'd love to be the head coach of Northwestern. They paid their last coach $100,000/year, that's a nice salary. I've been to Natchitoches, and I think it'd be a nice place to raise a family. Peveto and his wife will probably enjoy raising their two young children there.

    Re: Peveto to NW

    The Alexandria Town Talk reports:
NSU officials said Thursday that Peveto had accepted an offer to coach the Demons. He will be formally introduced Monday at a news conference in Natchitoches.

It is Peveto’s first job as a head coach

    However:

The LSU Reveille reports that Doug Ireland, Northwestern State sports information director, said:

"No offer has been made, and obviously no offer has been accepted," Ireland said. "Not at 5:43 or 6:02 or 6:07 or whatever time it is."

Michael Bonnette, LSU sports information director, said:

"They haven't announced anything," Bonnette said. "All the people trying to break this story are premature."

Yet, they report that the Baton Rouge Business Report is also reporting NSU has hired Peveto.

In addition, the Times Picayune writes that Northwestern State is maintaining that no candidate had received an offer as of 6 p.m.

Yet, they report that Tigerbait.com is reporting that the deal is done.

That T-P article was by James Varney at 6:01pm

Here is James Varney's new article at 6:37pm:

LSU defensive coordinator Bradley Dale Peveto was offered and accepted the head coaching job at Northwestern State shortly after 6 p.m. this evening, according to officials.

Natchitoches is a cool small town. I used to stay in that upstairs apartment on Front street in the second pic. Gametime is a pretty good atmosphere down there.

    Good Luck Coach!

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Oh wait, you said something nice. D'oh!

Have you ever uttered a critical word? :hihi:

    Peveto is a class act:

“I’m so humbled by this opportunity and the faith that Mr. Burke and the administration of Northwestern State are showing in me,” Peveto said. “It’s a tremendous opportunity. Everything you need in a championship program is on hand, starting with great people from President (Dr. Randy) Webb on down the line, and centered around our very hard-nosed, well-coached bunch of football players.

“We’re very excited to be a part of the Northwestern State family again, and excited about moving back to Natchitoches. What a special place it is! Melissa and I love the people there and we love Northwestern State. We had a wonderful three years there and so we are really looking forward to getting back, getting to work and raising our children there.

“I’m so appreciative to Coach Les Miles and the LSU Tigers for four great years. It has been a wonderful ride. Without his guidance and confidence in me, I would never have been ready for this opportunity. I’m a much better football coach and person for being under his leadership. I’ve had the privilege of coaching some great players, and great young men, who have made my job a lot of fun. The final part of the mix is the Tiger fans, who simply are the best in the nation.”
