Louisville got worse in Year 1 post Petrino even with a lot of the same players back. I know some of those guys, and Petrino's work ethic and drive are raved about. He is a good hire for Arkie.
Ya gotta wonder how f'ing stupid they feel right now. They probably had no idea the Petrino wanted back into college. It's amusing that Arky, a school with far less tradition than Mich, got a coach before they did.
well that's the funny thing about coaching searches, arky got turned down by other coaches probably not as good as petrino (though i like butch davis). but when the talk of miles leaving was thick, petrino would've been one of my top three choices and i didn't think he'd last long in the ATL with all that's transpired. many thought he wouldn't have come to LSU but he went to freakin arkansas so he wanted out bad.
Isn't Petrino the one who supposedly blew his interview with Skip/LSU last time around? The Arkansas job wouldn't be a bad one if it weren't for what I've heard is a lot of political crap. They have decent facilities, alumni and boosters with deep pockets, no in-state competition, a decent pool of in-state talent, etc. It will be interesting to see what Petrino can do there. I think he's a step up from Nutt.
As the story goes, anyway. I tend to believe it. I actually had forgotten about that, though. Skip was likely able to sense his questionable character. We wondered the same thing about Matt Jones and Cedric Cobbs. Then along came DMC+Jones.
I really can't blame him. The job that intrigued and for which he signed up for- a Michael Vick-lead offense that would maximize his creative offense- is not the one that he ended up getting. Michigan has a much bigger opinion of itself than it deserves, and it would never accept a coach that would sooner or later quit coaching Michigan to go coach somewhere else. There's that Bo quote about how he only wanted a Michigan man coaching Michigan. The longest he's ever stayed at one spot has been a L, and that was only for four seasons.
they just announced it on ESPN. If i here them call the hogs again anytime soon for the next year, I may just puke.
The calling of the hogs was hilarious I thought. They just had D'Angelo Hall on ESPN. He said of Petrino, "If I saw the man on the streets, I wouldnt have anything to say to him." Can't say that I blame him.
Dang. Petrino just took it on the chin from Sportscenter. They showed the calling of the Hogs, then Scott van Pelt said something about it being a 'highlight.' Then he followed that up saying 'Or low-light, depending on who you ask.' Then, as the show was ending, Karl Ravech looked at Scott and said 'Bobby Petrino still the coach at Arkansas?' I thought that was hilarious.
