Curious: does scum + condom = scumdom? .......ugh....... That's exactly what his actions have shown so far. I don't know how anyone can trust him. Haven't checked the fan boards. Wonder how the Louisville fans are reacting to this? Would Louisville be playing Arky any time in the near future? What he did was even worse than Saban in not even finishing the season with the Falcons. Misled Louisville while looking for greener pastures at other colleges in the background.
Petrino deserves everything he gets. I don't blame him for leaving Atlanta, but I dispise the way he did it. He pretty much left them in the lurch after telling the owner he would not. Another Saban.
I can't wait for Tubby to do the same, though the game is at Auburn. I'll bet Tubby thinks that he has a new rival in freaking Arkansas, and it's personal. I never hated on Arkansas that much, but I have to say that I am looking forward to the potential beat downs they get next year.
it cracks me up how the nfl people are so emotional about it. like the nfl isnt a business. it cuts both ways, if atl had decided they didnt want petrino anymore theyd drop him fast.
I Think Louisville fans were upset because they thought he might head back there since it wasn't going to work in Atlanta. It seems obvious his days were numbered there, even if he stuck out the rest of the season. Unless Petrino has an outstanding season in 2008 I think he'll be in Arkansas for 2-3 years. I'm not sure another bigger program will come after him for a bit. Arkansas sunk a lot of money in him and will give him a few years even if he doesn't do too well. Nutt ran off quite a few recruits himself so I'm not sure Petrino will do much more badly. Despite all the negative press you'd be surprised how many recruits have taken an interest in Arkansas. That doesn't mean they're rushing to come to Arkansas but they also don't seem to be taking the national press too seriously either. Petrino had some success getting recruits out of SEC country while at Louisville. I think people at Arkansas are curious to see if he can continue on that. But then again I think Louisville's academic standards were also a bit more lax so he may not have some of the options he had at Louisville. Arkansas' biggest problem is that it's main recruiting base is out of Texas. But Arkansas rarely plays there.
Of course I'm a bit biased but I've also thought it ironic that everyone makes such a big deal about this. But when it happens the other way 'it's just business'. I'm not sure it's all what it seems anyway. I think Brand is using this to try to unify the Atlanta fanbase after a bad season and seeing their star quarterback going to jail. I'm not justifying what he did but I think ESPN just jumped on board with Brand's bandwagon to help make it a media circus. I admit though Arkansas didn't help matters. They wanted someone now, they didn't want to wait till the end of the NFL season. They wanted someone out there going after recruits before this recruiting period was over and before Nutt and all the former Arkansas coaching staff got to them all.
Hey ark, welcome to the board. Not trying to disparage your program, but compare and contrast Petrino's actions with Miles' actions. It's like night and day. Not sure why anyone in the boot would prefer to head to arky beyond the prospect of increased playing time there. Rightly or wrongly, you are getting someone right now who is perceived to be damaged goods. This guy is going to have to find a way to show committment to prospective recruits. Miles, for example, doesn't have that problem. All the best,
Definitely didnt blank fire dan reeves at the same exact point 3-10 when vick was out with a broken leg. That was ok
