I understand what you guys are saying but still. If I had a son I wouldnt want them playing for a man like that. When the going gets tough, they get going. A coach should lead by example, and neither of them are much of an example of how to handle adversity. Instead they run. I completely understand that they realized they made mistakes but still. They each showed zero class or integrity.

The thing is that some people just don't care about a person's character..They focus on wether he's good at what he does and choose to ignore his character and values...Others think that character is important no matter how talented or smart they are, like you and me, but that's the way life is.

depends how harshly you judge each. clearly petrino and saban have taken it to a new level of scumdom.

others from okie state see miles in much the same light as he promised his team he was staying there and left soon after.

some of their fans would say the same thing we are saying about others. we tend to overlook within our own family when all is rosey.

Very good points. I agree that its all on your perspective. I could accept Saban leaving LSU for the NFL. I could understand him wanting the next challenge. I was fine with that and thankful that he changed the program around. Same as if Miles were to leave for Michigan. I could accept that.

Its the lying and callousness that Saban and now Petrino have left their jobs that gets me.

I also know that kids know they will have a good chance at winning with both of them. Each is a great coach, no denying that. Each has NFL ties to help guide you along, so they can give a kid a lot. Personally, I wouldnt want to or have my kid play for someone like that.

Warrick Dunn, one of the classiest players in the NFL, said that Petrino has no class and that it was a selfish act and he only thinks of himself.

Maybe if these guys would learn that the NFL is a completely different game they would keep their gimmicky offenses where they belong, and save their reputations. This doesn't apply to Saban of course, he had been there before, but obviously something wasn't clicking.

I understand the prestige and all involved, but in a lot of cases, the money isn't that much different, and college football is where you want to be if you want a field named after you. You just gotta stay at one place long enough.

I don't know, if it was me, and I was Petrino I never leave Louisville. They were very competetive and he was going to get a raise and the folks there loved him. Don't know what more you could ask for. Now he's back in college at a school with the most screwed up athletic dept in CFB. And he looks like a coward for being there.

Arkansas will discover what type of individual character Petrino has over the next few weeks and months. The public relations surrounding his hiring is a disaster. Arkansas has a proud program and does not want this to damage recruiting. But you also have to look at one of the sources, Jerry Jones. Remember, he fired Tom Landry when he bought the Cowboys and basically cleaned house ignoring the history of the Cowboys. Cowboy fans hated the man and wanted him out until Jimmy Johnson won Super Bowls. Jones will tell everyone to just hunker down and ride it out. Just win baby, that's all that matters.

I'm happy we have a coach who has integrity and commitment. While I dislike how the media will crucify a coach like Petrino and Saban relentlessly. It is having a way of holding coaches somewhat accountable for just walking away from a commitment. Saban is a different coach then he was at LSU because of how he handled things. I believe Petrino will also be different because of all this.

Now Tiger fans I cannot pass up one observation. This media uproar over Petrino was actually already primed for Coach Miles when and if he left for Michigan. All the media was ready to pounce. I think the media has been ticked off with being made the bad guy after Les' press conference before the SECCG. Poor Bobby Petrino walked right into a media storm that was just waiting to crucify Miles. It's getting really ugly out there with the media. I wish they would just start reporting the news rather then offering so many personal opinions.

Petrino seems like a troll, a liar and a quitter. He won't last long in the SEC. I don't see him having the same success in our conference; too much talent and too many elite coaches.

Can you believe he just bolted in the middle of the season and left his asst coaches, players, owner and the fans hanging. I guess it shows you what kind of jack-hole he really is.

Petrino is not a great recruiter and Arkansas is not loaded with talent. Petrino has itchy feet looking for greener pastures, esp when the going gets tough. Arkansas sold its soul to a coaching mercenary. Looks like AD Long spoke with Petrino against Atlanta wishes. Unethical at least. I think they will soon regret it this whole mess. There was a reason Skip wouldn't hire him and now we see it.

I think Petrino will make an improvement at Arkansas next year, and if he does then the fans will be happy there and won't mind the controversy. Winning covers a multitude of sins. As for the rest of the country, Petrino has torn his drawers. I think he'll have a tough time jumping for at least three years now.

If Petrino starts winning his recruiting will be pretty good (good enough). In short, I think if he wins, Arkansas will be very satisfied. And I think he will win. I think he will own Houston Nutt, and he will be very competitive with Mississippi State and the two Alabama teams.

This season will be very interesting. I hope it isn't as nerve-wracking, though, as the one we just lived through.
