Webster blossomed as a Soph actually. I believe he either lead the nation in INTs that year or maybe the SEC? I remember he was stellar then but didnt receive too much media attention or All American honors, although he should have. He was then All American as a JR and SR.
You are correct, but he wasn't the same at LSU after the injury, he was still good, and a leader, but he wasn't the same player.
Dont get me wrong, I understand you need to play some zone. However I think Peterson is good enough to be used like a Deion Sanders, Rod Woodson, Champ Bailey, etc. Where you just trust that guy to lock down a WR. Sure he will get burned like he was by Green but more times than not he will win out. This gives more help elsewhere for a pass rush, or the LBs, or wherever else. A S over top is OK, but I see no reason for Peterson to pass off a man to someone else.
As much as I like Corey he shouldnt have been All American as a SR. You are right he was a bit injury plagued that year and not quite at the same level. As a Soph though he should have been All American. He is turning into a great pro the last two years. Ill say this, from what Ive seen so far Id take Peterson over any CB in the country. Thats not at all a homer pick either, very objective.
And what was so funny about that post? Please do explain. If you disagree fine, but at least give a reason.
Agreed, Corey just wasn't the same, but he was still really good. He has become a top 10 corner in the NFL. I still think other than Peterson, Chevis Jackson was the best corner LSU has seen since Casanova. I would also take Peterson over any corner in the NCAA.
