One year during the 70's, CBS ran a season-long NBA "HORSE" tournament, and they'd play the segments at halftime of their Sunday afternoon games. Pistol won of course. Here's one of his segments:
Anybody read the book Walton was talking about? Unbelievable stat he mentioned about Dale Brown charting all of PPM's shots and he would have averaged 57 ppg had they had the 3pt shot in his era.
He did in the NBA on a few teams but his socially awkward personality showed itself on the court. Great showman great scorer pretty shitty team player.
I watched old videos read up on him and saw a couple documentaries. He was an awesome player and a My dad told me all the stories which got me hooked on how this skinny white dude could be the best scorer the games ever seen. Certainly ball handler.
In his last season with the Celtics he had lots of injury problems buy his role was as a designated scorer off the bench. I saw a game where he didn't play the first 3 quarters then scored 28 in the 4th. He retired and the Celtics won the NBA title the next season.
