Not that we didn't already know that, but the jackass calls timeout before ATL's game winning FG attempt and of course, Bryant misses it but has a chance to size up the FG - then makes the 2nd attempt. How many times do coaches have to lose before they learn not to do this. BTW, I HATE THE FUKKIN FALCONS. I also hate the 49ers, but I hate them less then ATL.
Then Pete Carroll had a fit. The commentators thought that he was trying to find out who called the timeout.
I saw that too. Just didn't mention it because I assumed that anyone else watching saw the same thing. The commentators were wondering what else he could have possibly said to the ref.
I've no love for Pete Carroll, but then I like to see coaches get busted this way anyway. Those absolute last second timeouts in FGs always seemed a trifle cheap to me. In any case Seattle did allow 2 20yard passes in 12 seconds up to set up the FG, so no sympathy for them.
I wonder what the percentages are for calling the TO on attempts over say 40 yards and longer? Off the top, I suspect the kickers make more than they miss.
Matt Bryant doesn't miss much and he doesn't when he's had a chance to practice the kick. It's so frustrating because I really wanted ATL to lose; especially like that. Oh well, the further they go, the worse it hurts when they finally do lose.
Especially if they get a practice kick before the real one. Look at the Ravens game last night. Their kicker came onto the field during a time out and got a practice kick from the spot on the field before the real one.
