True... I think the point is we all play the media game. Those that find themselves near the top more often, get to do it more often. It's really pretty simple. Hard to find a stainless steel coach in the "kettle black" field.
Broken record, he was making the same noise last year: "What is the criteria of the process? Is it to pick the team that has the best season, that has the season that you like the most and feel best about voting for? Or is it the best team at the end of the year, the team that would win a playoff system if you did have it?" USC coach Pete Carroll: BCS system stinks - Associated Press - College Football - Sporting News From the same article: "We're not playing to win the BCS. We're playing to win our conference." Hey Pete, don't you need a conference championship to settle that, you know its kind of like a playoff?
If Bama and USC end up in the title game, it will be Saban's revenge game that he never got to play here.
I don't think he would concern himself with it on the first week that the BCS poll comes out. But you're saying he might have been speaking to people behind the scenes or whatever, so I can believe that. It's not a big deal either way. I just don't think it's a big issue right now. USC hasn't looked that good. They should have beat Washington without Barkley if they're that good. It's not like they were going in there without their veteran QB. Also, they only put up 27 on Washington State and that is not typical USC ball. But I do think they had their most impressive game last week. I don't think ND is great or anything, but USC played well on the road. Yeah, but that was after the regular season was over. That's when it's time to jockey for position. And after everything happened, it actually made some sense. We were the toughest team to beat that year. Overall, I'd rather a small playoff. But I like the BCS better than what was there before. I think the system does a pretty good job. Of course, Auburn got the ultimate screw job in 2004. But what do you do when you have three or more undefeated teams? I know many said USC should have went the first year LSU won. But I blame that on the NCAA. They should have put a rule in stating that you have to win your conference to go the the championship game. They didn't and OU went for the 2003 season. But in OU's defense, they were BY FAR the most dominant team all year and people were talking about them possibly being the best team ever and all this stuff. They were the only big school to go undefeated in the regular season. USC lost to Cal and LSU lost to Florida. But LSU had the extra game against a great, top 5 Georgia team in the SECCG and killed them after a close battle in game 1. I think OU knew they were in no matter what and weren't quite prepared for what K. State had in store for them. I remember a number of people saying Florida shouldn't have been in the first year they went. We all remember the outcome of that game...
Just the thought of that possibility would make me want to jump in front of a train. By the way, Saban wouldn't need revenge. He held up the crystal football. Peter, on the other hand,...
We all know that final scores are not necessarily indicative of what happened on the field. USC had 501 yards in Total Offense, ND had 367. True freshman Barkley threw for 380 yards, seasoned vet Claussen for 260 and with a talented WR like Tate, that is a shame. But I have to also mention that USC had 8 penalties, 4 of those in the 4th quarter.....gee, I wonder why. And I have yet to ever see a pass play that has been run in 3 seconds but apparently ND has figured out how to do that AND the refs made an obviously poor call on the OOB pass that the Big East team overturned. Lastly, you know that when true rivals meet on the field, things are not as simple as one being better than the other. This is a very old, heated rivalry. But the point I made still stands, USC is a better team today than the one in Seattle. Yes, the comments were from a meeting where he discussed the game, etc. It was not a presser. USC coughed up the ball too many times against the Huskies. Aaron Corp had zero confidence and it showed in a very pathetic manner. With Barkley, we wouldn't have lost that game IMO. Keep in mind that Barkley led a 90 yard drive from the 5 with 6 minutes to go AT the Shoe to beat the Buckeyes in front of a record crowd. For a true freshman, that makes you a bit of a veteran. Can you provide links to all those flip flopping quotes from PC? I'll be happy to address them.
the human beings are still voting based on preseason guesses. the computer had no such preconceived notions. computers have USC as the best 1 loss team in the country. humans have undefeated Iowa ranked 6 spots below USC. had humans guessed right and had Iowa top 10 pre-season, they too would have Iowa ranked above USC right now. here is the part where you talk about USC's tough schedule, so I'll skip ahead for you. Sagarin SoS ranks (through Oct. 18) USC - 11 Iowa - 20 not a big enough gap to seriously b!tch about
Links for what? you don't remember that? Im not going to go digging for post game comments and ESPN clips by PC, are you his spokesperson or something?
