    Thanks Bandit for keeping things in perspective. Good post indeed.

    I have the very same thoughts in regards to the offense: it was a combination of an underperforming O-line , and JJ not quite up to the level of the premier QB's like Mallet. JJ is still learning and continuing on improving; so I never expected this team to make an NC run (exuberant expectation!). I was glad to see the D line being able to apply a bit more pressure last night.

    I wouldn't want Richt, Carroll, or Stoops here. I don't want to end up like Notre Dame, Miami, Florida State, or Michigan again (remember the 90s?). We've had a taste of that and it was terrible. I'm not sure I would lump Ohio State or Auburn in there, though Ohio State hasn't competed well with the SEC and Auburn had a tough season last year and mediocre one this year. Auburn is actively trying to figure it out. But I don't know about hiring Chizik, I would have been a bit disappointed in that.

    I predicted 12-0 and expected no worse than where we're at now. We were in each loss and really could have won those games if it weren't for the dismal performance of our offense, which showed up again last night despite the win. Yeah we beat Arkansas, but it was done in typical Miles fashion, bumbling along and doing just enough to compete. Had the offense not regressed, had the offense made reasonable progress through the season, had our coaches more effectively utilized our players, we could be headed to the SEC championship game for a rematch with the gay turd smears.

    Did you expect going into this season for Jefferson to play this bad? For our lines to be this weak? For our coaches to mishandle the talent they recruited and for our players to be undisciplined and frankly to appear confused? There is more in analyzing a coach's ability than simply looking at W/L. That is a very shallow, quick and dirty way to judge a coach, actually.

    I will say this for coach Miles, he must truly be a good man for things to fall into his lap as they have AGAIN this season. Someone up in the heavens seems to look favorably upon him. If only he could get out of his own way.

    Underutilization of talent and all the benefits that come with the LSU job.

    So were you one of the few LSU fans who remained composed after the Ole Miss game? In the W/L column, that game is only a single 'L', but the unspoken things that 'L' represents are far more concerning and shouldn't be forgotten simply because we bungled our way to victory against an Arkansas team that wasn't playing at the top of its game.

    It was an improvement, but not a big one. We've mishandled the QB problems since the beginning of last season, there is no excuse for our QBs to be this bad at this point (two years removed from the fallout caused by a recruit with character issues that our coaches put all hope into by not recruiting a QB the following year).

    I don't think we can afford it, but I'd like to see Miles go. Maybe Notre Dame wants him, he seems to have the luck of the Irish (see Ole Miss dropping the ball against Moo U).

    I'm on board for this plan and think Alleva would hire a good coach.

    That would be nice. I imagine coaches and their agents have leverage as far as that goes, though.

    The first sign was quite a long time ago, unless you haven't been paying sufficient attention to notice it.

    Such as...??? ...because I don't think this is accurate.

    I doubt we'll get rid of Miles so I guess we'll see.

    Wow, just wow. You ain't wearing the glasses, you've got p&g contacts. You stopped drinking the kool-aid long ago and you've graduated to the hard stuff.

    You're crazy. Without Saban I'm not sure LSU would have sniffed a NC. Maybe we'd be on the level of Richt's Georgia, but we were luck when we found a diamond in the rough when we got the coach out of Michigan St. But you'd be fine with Richt's Georgia, so I can see why you don't value what Saban did for our program and why you don't see a problem with Miles.

    Really, which programs have more sanity? Miles is guilty of more than screwing up the Ole Miss game, and it isn't just a recent phenomenon. He's been mostly underwhelming (but lucky) since he arrived at LSU. He has done well in recruiting (reportedly) but we haven't seen a lot of indication of that on the field, other than being able to tell that our players are capable of much more than what we are seeing.

    You just proved my point. Look at LSU's preseason rankings since the 2003 NC compared to before. Then you'll know what I'm saying. Your numbers don't correlate to what I'm saying. To show what I'm saying, you should post the preseason rankings from 2004-2009.

    I haven't been to other boards but on a national stage no one is calling for Pete Carroll, Jim Tressel, Bob Stoops' head. USC and OU are having a worse season than LSU. A lot of people think LSU fans are crazy for all wanting to fire Les after winning an NC 2 years ago. I'm not saying I agree but that's what a lot of people think.

    I live in Los Angeles, and although not a majority, many on local Los Angeles talk radio have been very critical of Carroll this year. Chief criticisms have been:

    (1) Pointed out that he is spending way too much time with his pet charity at the expense of his team. While everyone agrees that it is noble that he spends time “helping the city and troubled youth”, some have said that he needs to decide and either be a 100% coach or social worker and that it’s impossible to do both;

    (2) Questioning his assistant and coordinator coaching hires. Instead of being an executive, he is spending too much time “running around” trying to coach all facets of the team;

    (3) Questioning the lack of a team identity on offense;

    (4) Disbelief in how the defense has faltered and blaming in on a “contagious attitude” from the poor offense.

    This is our second year of underperforming and brain farts. All of those coaches have a longer track record than Miles and haven't shown a propensity for insanity on the gridiron. I don't think a lot of people are looking at LSU like they are crazy to be upset with Miles, I think most people look at Miles and wonder WTF is up with that guy?

    That said, I imagine the other schools are grumbling. Each of those coaches have some serious issues.
