Nonsense. Veto power is about check and balances in government, not to justify partisan political coercion while exercising executive authority. Coercion of public employees and abuse of power are real charges and felonies.
What's stupid is that if he had just sat back for a short while, she'd have undone herself. His help wasn't necessary.
I don't know if this is a true story or not but in the movie W when George W Bush lost in his first attempt at running for Congress he said "Nobody is ever going to Out Texas me again." Maybe Perry was just trying to Out Texas someone
It is all about politics. What do you think checks & balance means? All I can say is that there are many prominent and liberal Democrats supporting Perry's position. They see it the same in spite of their political difference with Perry.
Winston, check and balances are between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government, NOT the two political parties. Ethics is involved here. You and Perry seem to confuse the authority of the Governor of Texas with the campaign funding schemes of the Republican politician Rick Perry. Read Vball's earlier post again about confusing issues. You might also find this 2011 article interesting . . . The Best Little Whore in Texas Those in Texas who have followed Perry most closely over the years have all come to the same conclusion about him. "He's a cash-and-carry governor," says Craig McDonald, director of Texans for Public Justice, a group that monitors campaign contributions in the state. "He has an extremely strong stomach for holding his nose and doing really dirty favors." "He'll be whatever you want him to be," says one longtime political opponent. "He's all about greed." "There's no line he won't cross," says another. "This guy doesn't believe in one damn thing," says a third.
It was if he was trying to head off the investigation she was administering and replace her with a pet republican. Kind of blatant.
I haven't been able to follow this one yet. I just hope they don't lose any pertinent emails and I hope Perry didn't first learn about this when he saw it on the news.
