BTW, noticed that RP name was removed from the roster on LSUsports.net about 4 hours after the news broke. :milesmic: http://www.nola.com/lsu/t-p/football/index.ssf?/base/sports-2/1209792155137960.xml&coll=1
Yeah, that's why I have a hard time believing that RP is some sort of thug or poor leader, because his high school coach always sticks up for him. And I do believe that Miles has been trying all day to get RP into the program that will be best for his future. It's not surprising to hear that I-AA schools are calling and begging for RP. However, RP is gone from LSU. He'll never be a future LSU hero. I have hope in whoever wins the starting QB job next season, and I believe he will be a QB that will make us proud.
I don't think anyone here has called him a thug or implied such. However, his lack of leadership qualities are well documented and are the ultimate reason for his dismissal. If you are considered too great a distraction, the conclusion is you are not leading, at least not in the right direction. And ultimately if Ryan doesn't find a way to make better decisions, his troubles will follow him to any school Miles can find for him.
I see the word "distraction" and that reminds me that I do honestly believe RP had way too many "distractions"... the girl he may or may not have gotten pregnant and had a child with, the recent death of his father, the FBI investigation, the Casino incident, the Varsity incident, the "violation of team rules" incident, the Kona Grill incident, three suspensions, the LSU-student-newspaper-calling-for-him-to-be-kicked-of-the-team incident, the drug distraction, the distraction of the minority of LSU fans who hated him as some sort of degenerate, the negative media attention, etc, etc, etc. RP may be a great kid like I tend to believe he is, and I believe Coach Miles thinks he is, and his high school coach thinks he is. But with all those distractions, with all those distractions... that's tough to expect him or anybody to be able to overcome that and shine as best as he can on-the-field. It's probably best for RP that he goes to a Div-II school so he can get away from all that. And, it's best for LSU that we have a QB like Hatch or Lee that doesn't have all those distractions that RP had.
brought on by his own actions and bad choices. brought on by his own actions and bad choices. You keep charging the fans with this. Where do you see this? At your workplace? Certainly not on TF brought on by his own actions and bad choices. Are you seeing a pattern here John? It's not trig, it's simple math. Distractions like media attention at a Top Div 1 school? Wow, no wonder so many players like Dorsey, Highsmith, Doucet, Bowe, Davis, Williams, Flynn, Scott can't seem to get it together. So many distractions! Why don't you stop powdering his butt? He made his choices. He got several chances to get his head on right, by both the coaching staff, and the majority of the fans. He didn't get it done, and Miles is still trying to help get him a future at another school. When do you let RP take responsibility for his actions, instead of playing the "woe is Ryan" card? He didn't make these choices because he felt persecuted. He made them because either he didn't believe there would be consequences, or he didn't care. It is on Ryan's head solely.
Thanks Hector, and I know that you really mean this. Yep, I agree, and I really think we will be ok. :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux: :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux:
Way too much talent wasted here. The guy could have been a first round talent in the NFL, and here he is, acting like an idiot. Coach Miles did the right thing, and I'm glad the distraction is over. However, as a human being and a Christian, I hope RP will pull his life together and make something of his God given talent. He may not be a heralded first round qb when the time comes, but hopefully he'll be able to produce at the next school that he enrolls in, and some NFL executive takes a chance on the guy. maybe this will be his "rock bottom" and realize that he is wasting his life. Or maybe he'll turn out to be another Cecil Collins. Hopefully he will learn.
i agree. a spot on post, dude. if rp does not grow upand realize that his own actions and immaturity are what the problem is, he is going to continue this pattern of behavior and give the same headaches to a new coach.
Miles gave the kid too many chances. If the kid would not seek the right path in his life, he will definately be in trouble in the future. Kids of this type don't realize they have screwed up until they wind up in jail. Then it's too late.
I've kicked that around myself and ultimately in my mind said yea, perhaps Les gave RP too much rope and too many chances. But then I think maybe Les saw some of himself many, many years ago in RP. As a youngster Les was a hot head and it took Bo to get Les squared away and headed down the right path. I think he honestly thought he could do the same with RP. And since I haven't mastered the multi quote thing, let me just state that once again The Dude is spot on in his analysis and I agree 100%. :thumb:
