I guess I just didn't take his comments as a slam on us, I looked at it as a coach whom has kicked off one player for breaking team rules and now is signing one that has the same problems. He can't just say "yep, he is trouble, but I wanted him and I am hoping, as Miles did, that I maybe able to change him. But honestly we all know we are screwed."

He had to give some sort of reason why he would take this kid and was reaching for straws, didn't bother me. Good luck to RP and Jacksonville State.

Did you see that stadium? I wonder what will go through RP's head when he goes out to that crowd and remembers nights at LSU especially the Florida game last year. Sad to say the least...

I took that as meaning the LSU environment was too much attention and hype for their top athletes........., which may get to some kid's heads. The LSU staff/ Miles gave him more than enough chances. But still, another irrelevant point. There is this thing about personal responsibility that RP doesn't seem to understand.

I love how this is being heralded as RP's "second chance".

    It's more like 4th chance.

The below quote is from an article by sports writer Al Muskewitz of the Anniston Star (the local paper in Jacksonville State's neck of the woods).

Note that, as some have pointed out, RP needs to get away from his posse (or as the article below calls it, his "associations"), and for that reason, Miles would not release RP from his scholarship if it meant allowing him to play for some other team in Louisiana (like Dinardo allowed Cecil Collins to do).

Also note that it says the Jacksonville State coach wouldn't have kicked RP off the team for what he did... this coming from a coach who recently kicked off the only quarterback he had on his team (a guy entering his senior season), despite the fact that the QB set some school records and won some conference honors... and despite the fact that there were no other QBs to take his play except for incoming freshmen this year that have never practiced with a Jacksonville State team (at least LSU had Hatch and Lee, both of whom have a year experience practicing with the LSU team). Like the Jacksonville State coach said in the quote I provided above, "For me to remove the best offensive player we had and maybe the best in the league [Ohio Valley Conference] for disciplinary reasons [QB Cedric Johnson] and then compromise on this one [RP] ... would be crazy."

Ryan will always be a sad footnote for us at LSU, but little more than a footnote. His impact, if any, will end after this season and LSU will certainly not be redefined by it. If he couldn't make it at LSU, he is unlikely to make it in the NFL where the spotlight is far brighter.

Perhaps he will flourish at his new school and actually grow up in time to salvage his future. I wish him the best.

Probably wont matter. Generally those bad decisions come when you have down time and instead of being productive with that time he used it to do illegal things. If it is that big of a problem for him he will go and find trouble anywhere, at any school.

I dont think he means "LSU" as in the University or the football team, rather the city and environment he was in -- including his friends.

Jacksonville is a small rural town and should not offer the distractions that Baton Rouge did. There should be less opportunities for trouble - unless Perrilloux creates his own opportunities. Apparently that's what Jacksonville's last starting QB did. I hope RP has more luck there. No doubt JU will need him going against Georgia Tech.
