The news of RP going to Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Alabama seems official -- it is being reported by SI.com, USAToday, the UPI, Rivals.com, etc.

The new stories point out that RP will be able to play immediately at Jacksonville State because it is Div II (FCS).

    Rivals.com:

Jacksonville State was hurting at QB after dismissing their senior QB Cedric Johnson three days before the start of spring practice. To make their QB situation worse, the only back-up QBs they had to replace him were two true freshmen, and one of these two true freshmen decided to transfer to junior college in hopes of eventually going to a Div I program.

The Cedric Johnson guy, the QB who was recently dismissed from the team, passed for 1,434 yards and rushed for 437 yards last year as a junior. He tied a school record by rushing for four touchdowns against Austin Peay [Div II school in Tennessee] and he also became the first JSU player in school history to rush for 100 yards and pass for 100 yards in the same game [against Austin Peay State University]. He earned OVC [Ohio Valley Conference] Player of the Week honors three times during the season. (according to Official Internet Home of the Jacksonville State University Gamecocks)

As stated, Jacksonville State will be playing Georgia Tech for their first game of the 2008 season (Thursday, Aug 28, 2008).

Jacksonville State won the NCAA Div II football national championship in 1992. For the last three seasons straight (2007, 2006, 2005), Jacksonville State finished 6-5 (including a a 35-14 road loss at Memphis in 2007 and a 35-3 road loss at Mississippi State in 2006... in the 2007 road game at Memphis, JSU had 392 yards to the 485 yards by Memphis, and in the 2006 road game at Miss State, JSU had 201 yards to the 308 yards by Miss State).

    This is JSU's stadium:

Jacksonville, Alabama is not far enough away from his posse. They can drive over in a half day for a fun-filed weekend. And they will. Perrilloux would have been better off going to a small college far, far away.

Immaturity, lack of parental control, and some thug friends are the guy's only problem. If he could get away from the bad influences in his life and discover that there are things more important than his street cred, he could go far.

That is wishing upon a star, if he couldnt do it at LSU, good chances that he wont do it at Jacksonville State, where the support staff for him is probably far more inferior than LSU.
    just my thought

Jacksonville State has had a really good program for the past 20 years. It's a nice campus and is located approximately 15 miles north of Anniston, Alabama which is home to Fort McClellan Army Base.

There aren't as many bars/establishments in the area but there are enough to still get in trouble. Hopefully he'll keep his nose clean and make something of his life.

I disagree. Success in discipline is the ability to face those influences, have the knowledge to do the right thing despite those around you and excell at what is important to you and your team. He failed miserably at that and in that he is not a Tiger. The blessing to the team is sometimes you get a positive effect from having an example of what not to do living in the house. Fugg em.

Fort McClellan has shut down, no? It hit the list back in 98 or 99 I believe.

That point is irrelevant is regards to what Miles and the team ask of him, esp. discipline. He should know the team is already his to lead the coming season, and still manage to screw it up for himself.

i like how this no name F takes a shot at LSU like had he been somewhere different this never would have happened.

Mr Crowe, you'll be coaching girls high school volleyball in a couple of years so enjoy your quotes while someone has a need to quote you.
