Also the kicker Crutchfield....however, I would think it would be unlikely he is on scholarship.

Crutchfield was given a scholarship initially. Isn't he just a freshman?

You can only bring in 25 per year no matter how many you have on your roster.

Yeah, but you can only have 85 total. You don't always have room for all 25 for the year. I don't know what our numbers are, though.

25x4 = 100, plus redshirts means you have to have attrition to stay under the 85 limit.

Yep, exactly. Attrition is both good and necessary. Basically a culling of talent. The coaching staff knows who the keepers are. The non-keepers know who they are.

:geaux: I agree with you here. Didn't McCoy play last year and in line to get more PT this year? Really hate to hear he's leaving. Must be more to this than meets the eye, homesick maybe? Or maybe he saw some hand writing on the wall and figured his future wasn't as bright and a move was in order. Believe DD also said he was going to some 1-AA school too. He wouldn't have to sit out in that situation. Really thought we were going to see a lot more of him in the upcoming season as one of the first to come in after the starters. Good luck. :LSU231:

I did the math and we need to cut the currrent number of scholarships down by 10, besides the 13 that graduated and RJF leaving early. Word now is that Alexander will most likely be granted a 6th season with the team and that means the number climbs to 11.

    McCoy
    Hatch
    Dixon

That's 3. Crutchfield was one of my predictions for attrition, that would be 4.

Well, none of this has to happen until August so there could easily be some casualties due to grades. If a few are barely hanging on now they could fall off over the next semester.

I dont know how Miles handles the others. Does he have a "writing is on the wall" conversation with them?
