I have seen it before, people who try to use their fame or celebrity to make some political or philosophical point and it rarely works. Moreso, they end up looking like asshats. IMO, it's because most folks look at them thinking that if they had the opportunity, they would accept the accolades and be proud of their achievements, not refuse it as an empty gesture. The other reason is that Washington, Hollywood, and the NFL (all pro sports really) are the last places you will find large percentages of people who truly live their life by a moral or ethical code. Why take such huge salaries? Just give it back until management does what you want. Why accept the Oscar but not attend the event? Michael Moore should send back his Oscar. See, nobody buys their moral outrage because they know it's mostly bullshit. Do you think the average dude in the hood gives a shit about Spike Lee and his millions? He lives a rich man's life but feels bad about the lack of acting awards? Really? Who....gives....a....shit? Really.....it doesn't mean a gotdamn thing.
