The only thing Spike Lee ever did that I liked was the Mars Blackman Nike commercials with Michael Jordan. At least in sports there are measurables, yards gained, touchdowns, ect. Judgement of an actor's performance is totally subjective. There have been lots of critically acclaimed movies that I didn't like and lots of movies I did like that got poor reviews. Since I almost never have seen all of the movies where the movie of the actors have been nominated for an Oscar I can't even rank them for my own judgement. I like Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio so I would put them in even though I haven't seen either The Revenant or The Martian yet. I have never heard of Bryan Cranston or Eddie Redmayne so by my standards they are out until I can watch their movies. I haven't seen Concussion but I like Will Smith so I'm giving him a nomination. Most of my positive view of Will Smith comes from The Fresh Prince of Belair but I liked him in Ali and in the Men in Black movies.
Holy crap, I had no idea he was getting a lifetime achievement award this year. What a douche. I just assumed he wasn't going and no one would miss him.
Chris Rock getting serious pressure to quit as host. Implicit tweets and such basically telling him that even if he goes on, he can't really joke about the situation. Comedians have always been successful because of their complete irreverence for the rules and by ignoring expectations. If he wimps out and boycotts, his nuts will have shriveled to the size of raisins.
