Nick aint going anywhere. He'll retire from Bama. I think he would've stayed at LSU if Miami hadn't come calling. He was not going to leave for another college, only pro.
I’m thinking all the football coaches as well as most administrators and probably some staff in the athletic department need to be looking for somewhere else to work. That is the only way the university will have any hope of recovery. It is a mess and the smell is going to follow anyone in the program for a while. ldskule:
I don't know, this might be one place where Nick will get more love than even Bama, and he could get them winning the Big 10 every year, and people will say how great he is. Right now he has to put up with Les out coaching his ass
I just don't see it. I guess we will see in the months to come, but I would wager heavily that he won't. Hell, he might not even get courted.
What PSU needs to get past this is a new coach, new staff, and some good ole fashioned recruiting violations next year.
Oh I think its a long shot, but knowing his ego, this is one of the few places I could see as a possibility. He won't go pro again, he knows his system won't work there.
Penn, what do you think? Would PSU even look at CNS, given the perception many have of his tendency to jump ship after 5 years or when the next big challenge comes along? I would think after JoePa that they would want someone similar - stable and in it for the long term.
I agree before this scandal I was thinking Nick would end up at Penn State for all the reasons mentioned, close to home, Big 10, hero thing he loves. But now. NO WAY he walks into that situation. No way. Nor will any well established coach. nope it is going to be some young coordinator type. I could be wrong but I just dont see why any coach that is high paid at a big time program leave that and walk into the situation.
Kyle, I have never heard Saban's name mentioned once up here. Never. As for what kind of coach they would want? That's a hard question. Not many schools ever have a coach for 50 years, so for PSU, these are uncharted waters. What is long term these days? 10 years? The college landscape is so different now. If you win, you leave and take a better job. If you lose, you get canned. Right now....today, with this story still exploding, I can't imagine anyone wanting this job, except for ...maybe an assistant coach somewhere who desperately wants a shot at being a head coach. If it is an established, winning head coach they are after, they will have to put a lot of zeros on that check.
