I'm watching the replay of the SECCG and damn if we aren't making the same stupid mental mistakes we've been making all year. :po:

False starts, not enough men on the line of scrimmage, too many men on the line of scrimmage, etc.

It's no surprise that we led the SEC in penalties. 9 per game at 65 yards.

We can't afford a lethargic first half and repeated penalties against the Buckeyes.

    FIX IT LES!! :miles:

LSU is #118 out of 119 Division I-A schools in Fewest Penalties Per Game. Cincinnati has one more penalty than us at 114. But we will probably pass them in the BCS game and become literally the most penalized team in the country.

Maybe it's just me...and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...BUT...

Although we are still committing a lot of penalties, haven't we cut a lot of the stupid personal fouls out? I seem to notice this, but like I said, I could be wrong.

As far as the false starts...I don't understand it. Every now and then is one thing...but every player from pee-wee knows that you can't move until the ball is snapped! And the lining up problems are also inexplicable. I can remember 2 huge plays erased for that penalty...and one that was eventually reversed in our favor. Hopefully, that one will be addressed and corrected...but how do you correct people moving before the ball is snapped??

I don't really understand why we're having so many penalties because of mental errors. How can we be having so many procedure calls this late in the season. It does seem like we've cut down on the personal foul stuff.

What makes it worse is that now the officials seem to be focusing on us, to the exclusion of the other team.

I mean, c'mon, no penalties on Tenn? I saw one of the Tenn players yank of his helmet on the field, no flags.

And I can't believe that we haven't have more holding calls on our opponents.

If you had to take an educated guess on how many holding calls on our opponent's offense, what would you say?

In 13 games, I would say less than 8.

    That's staggering.

    I was thinking 6 or 7..

    That number still seems high.

It might be. I surely can't remember the last team to have a holding penalty called against their O-line.

And of course them stinkin flag happy refs making boneheaded calls and non-calls no doubt helped. (See LSU/AUB...or ask Mr Dorsey), I have the utmost disdain for these clowns, and we made it to the NCG in spite of them!

    LSU 113 penalties, 844 yards (65 ypg)
    Opp 60 penalties, 483 yards (37 ypg)

less than 5 penalties per game for a miniscule 37 ypg

that's some pretty disciplined teams going up against a formidable defense
