And anybody resting on the excuses of new coaches/schemes, please remember the 2 teams that kicked our ass, have new coaches and schemes. Inexperience? Mizzou’s true freshman QB just threw for over 400 yards and 4 TD’s to backup WR’s because they had 6 players out due to Covid.
Looking totally fucking lost on D isn’t a rebuild question. There are a ton of excuses, but Pelini still makes $2.3M/yr. The brook trout look is unacceptable.
I’m not challenging you or looking for a fight — I want to better understand what happened in August. I somehow missed that. What went on with the team?
I joined TigerFan in 2007 when Nebraska was considering hiring Pelini as head coach. Back then I heard from quite a few of you who cautioned me that Bo's read and react defense was problematic at times. Over the next 7 seasons I witnessed it first hand. In those 7 seasons Nebraska was blown out 14 times (loss by 21 or more). His defenses were historically bad at Nebraska. I also witnessed Pelini turn on the fans and eventually lose the players. Watching the game yesterday reminded me of Pelini's time in Nebraska. Receivers running wide open by 20 yards was a staple back then and it seems it still is today, despite the upgrade in talent. For your sake, I hope Coach O realizes the mistake he made by hiring Bo and cuts bait.
Allegedly Coach O made a comment about Trump being a good president (that I believe was taken out of context) and it didn’t sit well with some players, their families and some alumni. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.an...rm/amp/2020/8/12/21364498/orgeron-gets-trumpy Then Coach O didn’t participate in the players protest/march across campus for racial equality and there were some players and players families upset about it. Coach O made a statement shortly after that he wasn’t aware of the protest/march and as soon as he learned of it he went to attend. I honestly do not know all the details, but there are some theories circulating that he may have lost the locker room over it and then did the best damage control he could to try and get it back. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.th...d1ba7132-e968-11ea-8014-038675a40096.amp.html
Me too! A lot has changed in 15 years. Specifically how you defend the modern day offense and the way you have to treat this modern day generation of athletes. I don’t think Pelini has a place in today’s game.
People forget that was in Feb I think, pre-scandemic and manufactured social outrage. The economy and market were roaring and Trumps re-election looked like a landslide.
I would agree that Pelini's method of yelling at you till you get it right probably clashes significantly with Aranda's inner peace zen approach.
