They played a hunch maybe. You can bet talk has been made by lsu about what to do if miles bolts. I think there is truth in this. We know now , IMO , who alleva has set to come to lsu. You can bet the agent for Pelini has been contacted and the terms been discussed. That is where this rumor comes from. If miles leaves pelini will be the next coach at lsu. We can only hope he continues the success that saban and miles has caused us to be accustomed to. If miles leaves lsu will still compete at the highest level and if miles stays lsu will remain atop the football world as a top ten powerhouse. I would not say were out the woods yet. Until Michigan signs a coach miles is still on the fence but I don't feel pelini a bad choice. He may not be the top choice but he has national championship experience and has been here in br and knows what to expect. He also knows what a recruiting goldmine Louisiana is and will strive to fill the large shoes of miles. We didn't think miles could top saban and he has. With the talent lsu gets year in and year out pelini may exceede our wildest expectations. Hope miles stays but pelini is a proven hc and we could do much worse.

His agent is probably telling him just that.

Or . . . he may really want to be offered the Michigan job. It would be an honor for an alumni to be offered the HC job, even if he intended to decline.

I guess Herbstreit will sit this one out.

I think you are very wrong. It is a vocal minority that continued to criticize Les.

Pelini's defensive experience combined with Chavis would be very interesting and hopefully would mean we would be so solid there - a real key in the SECw. He would certainly make a change at OC, and this would be key. If he hired a solid OC, becomes more comfortable not micromanaging too much, lets the coordinators do their thing, it could be a good fit. His passion would be more embraced here than Neb.

Hopefully, CLM is staying, and will be transitioning OCs - that would be the ideal situation, IMO.

    You are VERY correct.

Sometimes we tend to believe whatever we hear, if we hear it enough. The ones crowing the loudest are the negative ones, and it gives the appearance that the entire fanbase shares their opinion. But everytime I see a poll...EVEN ON TIGERDROPPINGS...it's pro Miles by about 75%.

Miles staying would be best but pelini is better than an unproven assistant. Now lsu get a new oc either way and alls good. But in respect to crowton , if jj had played like last night every game over the last two years would we still be calling for the crows head. Maybe alot has to do with player exucution and not as much on play calling by crow. Maybe he was calling the plays he had to because of poor qb play. If jj played like last night we may have went undefeated and the crow would be a hero instead of our whipping boy. Just a thought.

    Here's a thought:

Let's say Miles teases Mich that he may be interested to talk.

Lots of chatter over this weekend about it.

Then Miles calls an important announcement at 8:00pm Monday.

He has the National spotlight because of the NCG and steps up to the podium and announces that...

"Although I am very flattered to be offered to be the next head coach at Mich, I am here to announce that:

Because of the way we ended our season...

The potential of our LSU 2011 team to compete for a National Championship...

The opportunity to coach and win in the toughest Conference - I mean Division - in Collegiate Sports...

The amazing recruiting class we have coming in...

The fact that my family loves Baton Rouge...

I am here to announce that I will remain the Head Ball Coach of a Damn Strong LSU Football Team in 2011.

    C ya!"

    Les continues...

"Oh and one more thing - Gary Crowton has informed me that he and Dirk Koetter will be switching jobs next year. We wish Gary the best and we are really excited to have Dirk join The Fam.

    C ya!"

Don't forget that they also had to pay well over $2 million to settle on the buy out for Rich Rod's WVU contract.

Miles has a buyout clause specifically for Michigan, if I recall correctly. So in addition to having to pay a top tier salary for Miles, UM will have to pay LSU whatever that buyout is in his contract.

The total cost to Michigan in firing Rich Rod and hiring Miles would be the balance due to RR + Miles buyout to LSU + Miles' new contract to Michigan. That is a big freaking price tag.

I said it before and I'll say it again. It is the Miles bashers that are stirring the shyte pot with these reports based on unnamed sources.

This is their effort to sully Miles' great bowl victory last night by immediately trying to portray him as someone disloyal to his team and players and secretly plotting to leave the University under a cloud of deception.
