Just checked the Saints website. The trade was as I described. Bentley must have been a free agent pickup by Cleveland.
He left as a free agent, and since the Browns were the team that signed him, their starting center became expendable. So, "kicking themselves over this one" is an inaccurate statement at best.
First start and was matched up against a pro-bowl player in simeon rice and didnt allow a sack. Payton left joe horn and jamaal brown behind for the road trip. no vacations unless you're playing. I knew ryans was going to be a beast before game 1. He's a special player. Good to see Super Mario making plays as well.
Fellas, I am all about everybody jumping on the bandwagon for the Saints, but can we please start spelling these names correctly. Incorrect ------- Correct Marcus Colston = Marques Colston Sean Peyton = Sean Payton lechuck bently = LeCharles Bentley (not important) Drew Breeze = Drew Brees Jamaal Brown = Jammal Brown Scott Fujita = GOD There may be Falcons fans lurking in the corners.
Yeah I wasn't aware Jammal spelled his name that way until I looked on the Saints website yesterday. That's almost as bad as Dwyane The Payton/Peyton spelling is driving everyone nuts.
Here is an article by Pat Kirwan on the "Unsung Heros". Check the last two paragraphs. I had no idea the OC had only 5 yrs experience in the NFL! That's impressive! http://www.nfl.com/news/story/9785787
Saints are protecting Brees as well as the Colts are protecting Manning (only 8 sacks in 8 games and none in the past 3 games). A lot of this has to do with the genius offensive game plan that Sean Payton comes up with week after week. Brees always has that safety valve receiver if his primary/secondary receivers are not open. And Brees is one of the best at knowing where his targets are at all times. The only thing the Saints obviously have to improve upon is getting Bush in more favorable running formations. I would like to see a fullback line up in front of him to clear the way, versus relying on just the O-line. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new "look" to the Saints rushing offense, allowing Bush to succeed. It would be great to see him rush for about 75 yards this Sunday (with the aide of a couple of longish runs). I think once the Saints rushing game gets in synch, you will see stats similiar to: McCallister 21 carries 94 yards Bush 12 carries 63 yards Where Bush has 2-3 runs per game in excess of 10 yards a pop, skewing his average of course. Of course this also would be coupled with his ability to get 2 or 3 tough yards when the hole isn't open, versus losing 3-4 yards.
