I think this is the first time this year that he does something that makes me nervous. Why change the routine of the players when the last time they had a different routine was bye week and we know how that weekended.
players usually report for workout/recovery and watch tape from sunday's game on monday, they have tuesday off. So he gave them two days off.
Well the Saints played a near flawless game. Only Bullocks needed to come in and see how much he was out of position on that first TD pass by Tampa Bay (the long pass down the sideline).
everyone now knows about marques colston, devery and brees at this point. The beauty of all this is that reggie bush still has yet to wait for a hole to develop instead of, he's trying to create. This will come in time and something Deuce can tutor him as they go along. Once he learns its going to be a pretty lethal offense if they can stay healthy. the one guy being overlooked on defense is the fat dude in the middle, hollis thomas. he is wreaking havoc on offensive lines, allowing fujita and shanle to run to the ball and look much better than they actually are. this is the dude they got from phili during the draft after swapping a pick with them i think. Saints have been needing a true run-stuffer up the middle for many years. I guess its no accident payton stole one already since he seems to be on top of everything. such DT's are probably the toughest guys to find. thank you andy reid. p.s. enjoy donte' stillhurt
Nice! But I've always liked the nickname, "Street Clothes". As for the day off, I don't see anything wrong with that. The players who needed to be at the Saints Facility for treatment and such were there on Monday, and as somebody already stated, they usually get Tuesday off. I see no problem with rewarding the team for such a great win. I fully expect Payton to have this team ready for the game in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Yeah, I think Peyton knows we have to be ready this week. Similar to last week, we face a team in desperate need of a win. Im sure Peyton will want to jump on Pitt early to get them down and the crowd out of the game. Saints win 33-27!
This is a long standing tradition in the NFL. Not sure if any of the current coaches still do it regularly though. But the tradition is that after a win, the coach would tell the team in the locker room 'see you Wednesday'. It was/is done as a way to reward the team for their victory. Seen old nfl films where players would get into the locker room after a victory and start chanting "Wednesday Wednesday Wednesday". If Payton said see you Wednesday, then that is one more thing to admire about the guy.
:rofl::rofl::rofl: I hadn't heard that one. Much ado was made around here on the radio b/c apparently Vince Young was spotted hanging out at Dave and Buster's on Monday night. Technically the guys have Tuesday off so it shouldn't be a big deal. Except, QBs rarely take the day off, and if any QB needs to work to improve, it's VY. I find it hard to care, but I'm not a UT alum or Titans fan.
well we got the OLB from Philly for Stalled-worthless we got Thomas in a trade down for no more than about 8 positions in the draft So if you evaluate the Saints draft, here is what we really got: Round 1 - Reggie Bush Round 2 - Roman Harper (we all know what kind of season he was having before injury) Round 4 - Jahri Evans (has started all 8 games at RG beating out Montrae Holland) Round 7 - Zach Strief (started his first game at OT in place of injured Jamaal Brown) Round 7 - Marques Colston Add to this Jeff Faine and Hollis Thomas in draft day trades. Both of these players will get Pro-Bowl considerations at the rate they are playing. Considering the draft day trades, I would say the Saints had maybe the best draft of any team in the NFL (6 starters - Bush, Harper, Evans, Colston, Faine, Thomas). In addition, Colston made Stallworth expendable and allowed the Saints to fill at huge void at MLB with Mark Simoneau. Not a bad draft.
