I'm not sure that's the wisest use of the President's time. The information is out there and it's not hard to find. The President has better things to do than travel the country and stump every policy he wants to push. This isn't 1880. We have 24 hour television and in the internet. If people don't know enough about his healthcare plan it's willful ignorance at this point...
Not really. Each state has a different demographic, taxes, and populous. What we could learn from every state working on their own solution would yield far better federal results than jumping into the deep end with out learning to swim IMO.
I would disagree. This is politics and perception is reality. You are correct that barn storming the country is no longer a legitimate political tactic, the administration and the democrats as a whole did a poor job of educating the American people about what the legislation contained. This left the door wide open for the Republicans to frame an otherwise good bill into "Obamacare." I put it into quotes because that term has become a bad word and it's because the Republicans out maneuvered the Democrats and the President politically. Now, with that said, I defend the President to an extent because he had quite a few pressing issues on his plate all at once during that time. Hindsight being 20/20 it should have been handled differently.
What they all have in common are people who get sick. Demographics, taxes and populous don't mean a whole lot to disease and illness. Cancer treats you the same if you're poor, have a country accent, pay sales taxes or property taxes. That's great in theory, but the reality is that not every state has a solution. We've had over 200 years to learn from every state working on their own solution. The only thing we have learned is that this theory does not yield better healthcare than federal results. No one is jumping into the deep end without learning how to swim. This method has proven to be very successful in other countries with capitalist economies and according to the CBO will reduce the spending we have now. It's a plan with Republican roots. It's going to reduce Federal Spending. The healthcare industry will benefit financially more than anyone. Every citizen will have access to insurance and there will be no more hospitals and doctors eating the costs of the poor who don't have insurance. How is that not a Republican's dream?
I don't know what more they could have done. The information is out there. It's not hidden and widely available. You can't force people to learn just like you can't force people to stop listening to disinformation. You might as well blame Joe Alleva for not turning the entire country into LSU fans...
I'll answer my own question: It is a Republican's dream, but because there are no more Republicans it's not getting the response from the right that it should. At least there are no more Republicans with a national voice. They have all been replaced by fringe lunatics who hi-jacked the GOP ticket. Look no further than their very own Presidential candidate. Governor Romney > GOP Nominee Romney
