Fact: While Ryan tried to pin the downgrade of the United States’ credit rating on spending under President Obama, the credit rating was actually downgraded because Republicans threatened not to raise the debt ceiling. Still happened under Obama correct? Do we not have a leader for a reason? Case in point in the same article: Fact: While Ryan blamed President Obama for the shut down of a GM plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, the plant was actually closed under President George W. Bush. Ryan actually asked for federal spending to save the plant, while Romney has criticized the auto industry bailout that President Obama ultimately enacted to prevent other plants from closing. Here, you see that they Blame Bush for something that happened under him, but Obama doesn't get the same treatment?God forbid the guys on the other side, republicans, actually pull the same shit the other guys do, democrats. No, I am not ignoring what Ryan said, just funny how so many people get their panties in a wad for a Washington normal practice on both sides.
not my words, I dont have a problem blaming both administrations as I have, criticized him on the stimulus among other things. It seems you guys cant deal with the truth. maybe you can stop defending and start dealing with the truth.
Paul Ryan gave a stirring speech with a lot of red meat for the Republican base. His speech did nothing however, to sway swing voters. This is the caveat that you guys are failing to see: Independent voters, whether they tend to lean Red or Blue, are more analytical, fact driven voters who are not prone to having their chains yanked. The fact that Paul Ryan's speech was filled with half-truths or outright lies is not something that will fool independent voters, much less sway them to favor the Republican ticket. I have said for a long time that the greatest miscalculation that the Republicans are making this election cycle is the assumption that the more radically conservative they are, the more independent voters they will attract. They like to cite the fact that Ronald Reagan was able to accomplish this but Mitt Romney is no Ronald Reagan....not even close. Further, the Republican party has drifted far right since the days of Ronald Reagan compromising on social security reforms with Tip O'Neill as well as a host of other things.
I agree. Being a true independent I heard nothing but the same, largely baseless, talking points I've been hearing for three years in Ryan's speech. He just says them much cooler than Hannity or Limbaugh. The only issue I take with the above is that that the Democrats are every bit as full of shit as the Republicans, and probably more so. So independent swing voters will not be swayed by the storm of crap they are going to spew at their convention.
I agree with you to an extent. The Dems can be just as full of shit as the Repubs. That said, you said a mouthful when you said that Ryan was largely regurgitating what Hannity and Rush have been saying for the past four years, only more elegantly. The difference will be that I think Biden and Obama will lay out more specifics about what the next four years will look like; mostly because I think they have to. In order for Obama to convince independent voters that he is the guy, he has to lay out some policy specifics and he needs to include talk of compromising with the Republicans in order to move the country forward.
Obama has never been specific about anything. That ismy biggest complaint about the guy. He speaks in re-assuring ambiguities. Work. Distribution line is still down in my neighbor's yard. Haven't seen hide nor hair of entergy yet.
