Why do you think this is? Could it be that people in the business of being smart, perceptive, and analytical understand something important? Yes, universities are mostly liberal and corporations are mostly conservative. So what? Respected, peer-reviewed studies (not polls) have shown that liberal universities do not turn out liberal students in greater numbers than exists in the general college-age population.

Well, so do most people who earn law degrees. The point is that Romney was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, comes from a family of wealthy politicians, and has been a millionaire his entire life. That is what an elitist is. Obama was raised in the middle class and did not attain 7-figure wealth until he started writing best-selleing books as a Senator. He has a net worth between $2 and $11 million. All gained in the last ten years. Romney was born wealthy and is now worth $250 million.

They are both on a ride in life that close to all Americans will never reach.

To say one is intouch over the other is a bit silly.

Though, if we have to go that route, Mitt is more out of touch you could say. But still, both are on another level that many of us will never reach.

Regardless, this silver spoon, you make it sound awful. I work my ass off everyday so that my kids have a better life than I did, as my parents did for me. Isn't the quest for this silver spoon something we all try to obtain? Granted, there can be different versions of the "silver spoon", but in no way does that disqualify a man to be president b/c he was born into wealth.

Money isnt the only thing that defines an elitist. I know professors who have very little money who are as elitist as any wealthy peron....They are the intellectual elite (in their own minds). BHO has been in that elite at least since he went to Harvard and taught Con Law. Being an elitist has little to do with ones political leanings. Al Gore and John Kerry would qualify as liberal elitists. They have no clue as to how most lead their lives. When one obtains wealth has little to do with it.
BTW Bill Clinton bless his soul has maintained a foot in both worlds. He live a life amoung the elite but remains grounded in the real world. Funny to say it but I think W does as well.

His qualifications to be President are not at issue. His ability to connect and empathize with middle class people is the question. Romney has never in his life been middle class. Obama has been middle class for most of his life. Obama knows what Romney imagines.

I hate selfish people of any income level. The GOP is the party of "Everyman for himself" and "I've got mine, you can eat cake."

It is a naive mistake to assume that only Republicans have money.

Intriguing, how does Obama connect with you?

What does Obama know of being a privileged white dude constantly hounded by the sins of his past generation?

What does Obama know of my interracial marriage? What does he know of my service and commitment to my country?

Obama's background in no way makes him qualified to connect with any of us.

It is the people connecting to him that seals the deal.

We were both raised by middle class white people. Both of our moms had PhD's. We both were poor and worked odd jobs as students.

Who is this supposed to be? Romney?

He certainly has the perspective of being a child of an interracial marriage.

About the same as evryone else in the country. Anonymous internet characters are not very famous.

    Wrong again.

That means about as much as the both of you are dudes.

Again, it is my opinion that the class of life you are brought up in is not the factor. Being middle class is irrelevant. It is about being a person with whom "people can connect."

    It's just opinions, relax.
