This sucks because we should have beaten those fuckers 1/9/12. We had the chance the have this whole thing alot different in 1 game. 1 game would have completely changed the landscape in college football, and we blew it. I mean we walked into that super dome so fresh and so clean, dapper. Undefeated, beat the bully in his home, all the ladies love us, we are the life of the party... And we get pants'd in front of the world. This is definitely the moment Les could have shut the critics up for a good while at least. And he blew it, he really did. And what makes it even more hard to swallow to this day was the unwillingness to divert from the completely ineffective gameplan with Jordan Jefferson throwing the ball 5 yards and under, running the option and up the gut the rest of the time. Almost like he said to himself we are gonna lose but I don't wanna risk losing by more than 30, so I'm going conservative the entire game, even down more than 2 scores. Such a great season with such a huge turd at the end of it. Even an offense that had some sort of a pulse and we win that game because the D held to 3 after 3, short field after short field. No touchdown until garbage time. Anyone that wants to crucify ole Les when it comes to that game I can't defend him, because he shit the bed bad in that one, just runny shit from post to foot, corner to corner, with what were once sparkling white sheets. Can you imagine what it would be like had the outcome of that 1 game been different?
It's hard to, especially when you see a team like OU do it. That team would have gone down as the best in college football history had we won that game. And Les was too hard headed to make ANY changes.
Part of me wonders if Les thought he could get a split with a close loss and played ultra conservative as a result. That bothers me. OU won because they attacked and pressured McCarron.
I don't think that's the case at all. Of course, it's as good a reason as anything we've heard about why we sucked so bad or why we didn't take more chances.
