Daschie ... here is the reality on the Ground. The GOP will NOT fight for any conservative or constitutional concern. As opposed to looking at it from the GOP's perspective, ie., what's good for the GOP, look at it from the Conservative perspective. We will lose over the next 4 years either way it goes. If we hang on to the GOP, all we do is prolong the slow death of Conservatism as well as the slow death of the Constitution and the Republic. A new party, one based on Constitutional Principles, will suck in the Libertarians as well as the Constitutionalists, and will appeal to most Independents. May even peel of the few Democrats who have sense left about them. All of that gets added to the Trump Base, and you have a recipe for a rebirth of Constitutional Principle and the original premise of the Republic. Bottom line, there are just too many in the GOP who oppose Constitutionalism and Conservatism. As is noted by many of a scholar, including Jefferson I believe, it is much easier to prevent the scum from establishing itself than it is to remove the scum once it is established. The GOP is just full of too much scum. You simple can't rehabilitate it. There are just too many Mitch McConnells, Paul Ryans, John McCains, Mitt Romney's .. and other political scum who've made a living off of politics all their lives to change it. They are loyal to the Establishment .. not the Constitution or the People.
People or politicians? The people are fed up with the GOP because we have seen this movie before. Think back to when we had numbers yet Obama still got damn near anything he wanted. There are a few in the GOP that might survive. Jordan, Getz (sic) but the Rubios, McConnell, Romney bunch are finished and have effectively sank the party. You are right, a lot of people support Trump and they know how difficult the GOP has made it for him. They will pay dearly.
