He had to be. PP was all over J Jones like white on rice, McElroy was just money on his throws. I don't think there are many QB's in the NFL that could have made some of the throws to J Jones that McElroy made. I gotta give props on that, and because of how well those plays were executed J Jones does get the nod in this game against PP. From what I saw in this game, we will be seeing this matchup more in the NFL, that is unless they end up on the same team. You had 2 of the best at their respective positions going at it. J Jones won the battle, but if it had been any other receiver against PP on those plays PP wins the battle.
Absolutely. You really have to look at how restricted PP made J Jones, it took away much of the offensive potential Bama had. J Jones may have had some key receptions in the game, but by not being open on other plays his threat was seriously diminished.
y'all are throwing out some good nuggets in this thread. no,PP is not having the monster/heisman games he had in the first few (which honestly let's just admit fueled by his returns). but he's still pretty excellent. i echo all the sentiments about g mac throwing some damn fine balls. all in all julio probably edged out PP a little in the head to head but it wasn't by much. you know who looked like PP attacking on saturday? eric reid. damn i'm excited about the secondary for years to come. also tharold simon. and i have a question. i thought his name was pronounced like "simon says" but heard lyn rollins on the cox replay pronounce it "simone" like the female name. anybody know how to say #26's name?
Not sure. Apparently I've been mispronouncing Chase Clement's name. It's pronounced Chase Clem-augh (kinda like the end of St. Amant). Somebody tell us quick about the Tharold Simon pronunciation before it takes me weeks to correct it.
The proud Cajuns will tell you it's Simone, and the non-cajuns will tell you Simon. Only those that know the player will know for sure. And even then he may be letting it go uncorrected. I see that a lot.
Peterson was burnt on the play he was flagged for pass interference. That's why he had to interfere. And he was beat on the Jones TD (once you let the receiver get inside on that route, it's pretty much all over). He didn't have a very good game. Didn't have a very good game against Auburn either. Frankly, after the hot start, he's had a disappointing season (relative to sky-high expectations). He's still a great player though, obviously, and has a few more games to catch up. Cramping hasn't been an issue lately, so I wonder if he's trying to play a little slower.
