What have you heard? I haven't heard anything since he signed with LSU. He & the athlete from Texas (can't think of his name right now) were both phenomenal athletes in HS though.

I very rarely expect a true freshman to be a starter, but from everything I've read about Patrick Johnson he's not just an exceptional talent but also could enroll early & put the work in to learn the plays.

And this opposing thought from canesports.com.......

Johnson has a message he wants to get out on the Internet: "I'm still committed to Miami," he says. "I really don't know where (the rumors) are coming from. I hear the rumors are coming off the message boards, but I don't know how they get there. Some of those guys posting it - I don't even know who they are."

He says he has a message to message board posters: "Just stay tuned. You'll find out when I start (school) Jan. 7 at the University of Miami."

He says he is "definitely" graduating early.

And he says he's a solid commitment. But he's still planning a couple of visits. He says he "may" go to Georgia this weekend for an official visit. And he's set up USC for the weekend of Dec. 1.

"I talked to Miami coaches after the (loss to NC State) - they know where my heart is," Johnson said.

Johnson says it would be "very hard" for another school to catch up to UM.

"What people on the message boards say doesn't bother me," Johnson said. "Some of them say I'm overrated. They didn't make the rankings, so I'll be alright.

"You have to have thick skin, come with a hard hat mentality."

Well thats just from people around campus but of course everything is subject to change. If anything I would expect Jones to start first and maybe Johnson to fill in afterwards. But the DB talent we have is really good at this point and while we may struggle early on, things are looking good for the future.

Jones starting & Johnson taking over is a possibility, but has that ever happened under Miles? I can't think of a single instance when a starter was replaced through the course of a season.

The kid from Texas that you must be referring to is Ron Brooks. I wonder what position the coaches see him as. He was promised a shot at WR, but isnt he expected to be a DB?

Well really I see this happening if either is in the Nickle, but my main point is I wouldn't etch anyone into a starting spot yet.

Yea, Ron Brooks. I believe he's been listed at DB since he stepped on campus, but I'm not sure.

i've logged on to scout.com pretty much every day, looking at the recruits we are after. This guy is leaning very hard our way...He's looking at 4 schools, as per scout.com...But I think he's made up his mind already.
