Patrick Johnson recruiting effects There seems to be a real "gravity" around this kid. Pryor even mentioned LSU when talking to him (leading to some very optimistic speculation in another thread). So... here is a question for y'all: what sort of impact will PJ's commitment have on other big recruits (like Deandre Brown, or dare-I-say, Terrelle Pryor)? I have gathered that PJ really earned the respect of his peers. Thoughts?
Johnson on why he chose LSU... I'm sure it's no coincidence that 3 weeks ago was also when Michigan announced Rodriguez would be their new head coach. We know he had doubts about Miles staying.
Shannon did a pitiful job this season. With as much talent as they have, there was no reason to go 5-7. And way too many of their losses were horrendous. Even in Coker's last year, at least they were competitive for the most part. No reason to be optimistic with Shannon at the helm.
Shannon's a great recruiter..but so is Charlie Weis. hes got a lot to prove, but they're definitely bringing in a ton of talent. That Forston guy looks like he'll be a monster.
That's at least 4 high-profile recruits that have stated that Les Miles, and his "word"/character, sold them on LSU. RP, Sidell Corley, Phelon Jones and know PJ. And those are just 4...I'm SURE there are a LOT more, but those are the ones that have stated publically their affection for Miles and what he stands for.
I wonder if the coaches promised early playing time to PJ. The only other recruit I can remember this coaching staff promising playing time to (at least according to the recruit) was a safety - Reshad Jones ('06 UGA commit). I remember reading that he was told he'd be on the field for LSU's first defensive snap in his first year. It seems Miles very, very rarely promises such a thing, but with our top 2 CBs leaving & Patrick Johnson's elite talent level - I wouldn't be suprised if he was one of those exceptions.
They may not have had to promise early playing time. PJ's a smart guy (as evidence by his early graduation and spring semester enrollment). All he had to do was know that our 2 starting cornerbacks are graduating and the nickel and dime spots were manned by players that are technically safties (Jones and McCray). I'd say the odds are pretty much in his favor that he, AT the LEAST, claims the nickel or dime spots early....
PJ will find out if his score was high enough tomorrow morning. He made a 16. He needs a 17. His score of 22 was flagged by Urban Meyer and consequently dismissed.
Dismissed? so that means he was found to be doing something wrong?! They couldn't take away a score he earned if he did nothing wrong.
