To be honest, I'm not sure what to think of him. I was not pleased at all when he first got the job. I thought he was in way over his head. Then, had a hand in bringing us a Super Bowl and I thought I was wrong about him. And now, his latest FA signings, besides Sproles, have largely been busts. To be fair, a lot of those signings seemed solid on paper. Like Kreutz. Before the season, any team in the league would had loved to have that guy; especially at the price we got him at. No one could know that he lost his passion for the game. Because of this, I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt. But, he's on a short leash..
Yes, I don't blame the FA signings on Loomis they did look pretty good. Although I wasn't impressed with giving up a proven center for an over the hill veteran. Both lines have to be upgraded for another Super Bowl run.
I just don't see how the Saints can be succesful with no run defense, suspect pass defense (Brandon Lloyd got behind the secondary twice in a row and Feeley couldn't hit him) and no pass blocking. I am serious that every game on the schedule is a likely loss unless something gets fixed.
Saints need a total revamp. The skilled players best days are behind them. I don't expect much the rest of this year. It may be another 40 yrs before they go marching in again.
I don't think they gave him up. He just took more money from another team. Can't pay everyone and, at the time, Kreutz looked like a solid replacement. He was wrong, but signing #43 makes up for it.
If you are right and the Saints need a "total revamp", which means, I assume a total re-building project, then, the Saints front office, i.e. Mickey Loomis has REALLY screwed things up by trading away draft picks last year for Mark Ingram. You re build primarily through draft picks, so, Mr. Loomis has closed the door on re building for the foreseeable future. Saints can re build once Mr. Drew Brees is retired. I'm not sure that Mickey Loomis is going to be able to actually improve the Saints, so, it will be up to Mr. Brees to win games for us. He's a "one man team", much like Peyton Manning.
