No way in heck do they throw it more this year. no way. I expect about the 58-61 ratio again this year.
Well, Crowton's reputation for that was basically built at La Tech and to a lesser extent BYU. Not exactly the same level competition as the SEC. Crowton is a great fit for us but he also walked into a great situation here. I dont remember him taking a large number of mediocre QB's and turning them into all world. He had Tim Rattay at La Tech and other than his first year at BYU, his offensive record there deteriorated. He also had Dennis Dixon at Oregon, who is no slouch, and Oregon's offense was better after he left than when he was there. I like Crowton a lot for "us" but I dont see a long list of average QB's he's turned around.
I thought when Crowton got here, he said 60-40 running plays, but he expected to get more yards per pass completion, and he wanted a balanced attack 50-50 on yardage, run vs. pass. Anybody else remember that?
I think the offense will be similar to when Hodson was QB. We'll run to set up the pass. The short to intermediate passes will dominate the play selection. Our WR's will stretch the plays from there.
Crowton hasn't had running backs like this at his previous stops. He'd be a fool not to take advantage of it and he ain't a fool.
You're correct about the WR's. But he will be efficient in his use of his QB. Unless he sees a quite an improvement from a composure stand point in the fall, I don't see him being pass dominant.
