You guys are overlooking the Pakistan nucs. The most dangerous weapons in the world. If we cut ties, which is appealing at the gut level, we get one step farther away from them.

It ain't like we're snuggling up to them every night anymore. Information is very dark, but five years ago when we were completely kissing their asses, it is said that Pakistan allowed us to monitor the number and locations of their weapons. It is also said that they no longer allow this and have gotten secretive with their weapons storage and have dispersed them. I have no doubt that we have good intelligence on their dispositions, but it's likely coming from national reconnaissance and covert assets, not from Pakistani cooperation.

I don't really consider them to be any more dangerous than any other countries special weapons. They can't use them against nuclear enemies for the same reason that the Soviets couldn't. Retaliation would be swift and brutal. Neither do I see them handing any over to Al Qaeda. They cherish each and every one of these exceedingly expensive national assets and they are completely unlikely to give up command of them to anyone else. Especially uncontrollable radicals bent on jihad. The last thing they need is for islamic radicals to use an weapon with Pakistan's return address on it against the infidel USA, the zionist Israelis, the godless Russians, or even the despicable Indians. It would be bombs away within 24 hours.

The worst danger would be for Pakistan to suffer a civil war or a total breakdown of the government. But the Pakistani Army is strong and disciplined enough to protect itself, I think, along with their special weapons. It is the radioactive material in their nuclear reactors and weapons plants that could be vulnerable to theft by radicals to make dirty bombs. But I don't think such a total breakdown is imminent. The Pakistani Army will be ruthless in suppressing anarchy.

We should probably just go ahead and invade their country and start a war.

right, you would know this because of your expertise on stealth coatings and quiet rotor technology.

These are no longer black technologies or new ones, they have been around for many decades. The Chinese captured D-21 stealth drones as far back as the 1960's. An F-117 was shot down over Yugoslavia 16 years ago and its parts went to Russia and China long ago.

One would think the technology has significantly advanced since then.

even if no information was gotten by the chinese from what the paks shared with them, it is that it WAS shared.

here we are giving billions in aid, to what is supposed to be an "ally". and i use that word loosely. hell, we know they are not an ally, will stab us in the back every chance they get. it has been proven over and over and over.

and the whole nukes argument, well, it would be valid if they truly were an ally and telling us the truth about things. they are likely pulling the same shenanigans and playing the same shuffle em around games as they would if we were open enemies.

its just nauseating to see this stupid game of "ally" being played, when the whole world knows its a farce. we need to get to the point we can just say "phuck you", cut off the aid, and get the hell out, and treat em like the shyt bags they are.

if you and mlu find an article on this, you can both read 6.5 pages and then report back to us on your expertise.

Some of it has, but most of it is veteran stuff. China and Russia are now well-advanced in stealth technology. The days when we had it exclusively was in the 1960's and 1970's.

Counter-stealth technology has grown too. It is no longer possible to be invisible to the latest radar systems, just difficult to track. The Osama raid depended on nap-of-the-earth flying in mountain valleys and down in the trees when necessary to avoid detection. If Pakistan possessed the latest mountain-top look-down radars in sufficient quantity, the helicopters would have been detected.

The main issue with the capture of the tail section was likely not in compromising stealth technology secrets, but in revealing that our SOF units had operational stealth helicopters and were using them in theater. It may have explained some earlier mysteries to them and will make them more prepared to deal with future situations.
