There is an unwritten rule you do don't rest your good players if you're playing a team that is still vying for the playoffs the last week of the season (especially the last weekend of the season). So, conversely, not sure why we haven't heard any flap from anyone over in Detroit for this ploy by Ozzie Guillen to purposely move Peavy's start back a day to start tonight. And it's paying off. White Sox are up 6-0 in the top of the 6th and about to blow it wide open. Peavy is dominating the Tigers. The Twins are up 5-0 in the 2nd inning against KC. The Tigers are desperately trying to avoid having to pitch their ace Verlander Sunday to clinch the division title (and playoffs, obviously). But it certainly looks like it's headed that way. Yankee fans should pull for that scenario, obviously. Verlander dominated the Yankees back in 2006. CC Sabathia vs Edwin Jackson sounds much more appetizing.
